With dedicated hardware games it's all about the developers NOT the numbers. If you look at Haze you'll notice that it's quite close to crysis....even without the Directx10..the ps3 has the cell processor that boosts all the physics application at the same level.
Compare Summoner to God Of War 2 on PS2.
Now put RFOM in Summoner's place and imagine the God Of War 2 on the PS3 in 2012. Crysis will look old.
Is it possible to get graphics that realistic on the ps3? I'm not asking if the ps3 is capable of playing crysis itself because I know that has been debated many times in these forums. I saw the videos for Haze and its looks great. But the graphics in crysis blows everything away. I wanted to know if it would be possible to make a game like crysis 5 years from now when developers know how to use all of the ps3's power.sxyflip212
Games like crysis, I think, will be when the PS4 is released. Crysis is too much for any console to handle, you'd need a very good computer to even run it on low detail.

have you not seen haze? if a console can do that after only 7 months of life, than crysis will not be too far off. I would say a year maybe two. no technology is strong enough to be the pinnacle for 10 years(the expected life of the ps3).Is it possible to get graphics that realistic on the ps3? after looking at Haze yeah anything is possible and the team who developed the game said they havent even unlocked the power of the PS3, and i think it could be next year we see graphics like Crysis being that developers are not lazy when devloping for the system and take the full advantage of what it has to offer
What is crysis?sydney1030
It's probably the best looking game to come out this year. Check out some of the videos on gametrailers.com
Seriously, it's just stupid to think that no games by 2012 will look as good as a 2007 game on PC.
in 2000, PC games were kicking the PS2's graphics in the face, but if you compare today's PS2 games to 2000 PC games, PS2 looks MUCH better on the same hardware than 7 years ago.
By 2012, X360 and PS3 will have games looking better than Crysis, lots of them. We have barely seen the tip of the iceberg. But of course, by then, PC will have games that will make you want for the PS4 to come out earlier.

Exactly.
I cant BELIEVE how gullible and naive people are. Doesnt mean that the PS3 isnt capable of great graphics, but NO CONSOLE out now can even come close to that. Anyone with just a little knowlege about computers can figure that out.

Seriously, its stupid to think that the hardware in current consoles can handle Crysis EVER. Furst of all, you NEED DX10 to get those graphics. Without that, it wont ever be the same. You can come close, but not quite.
Second, Crysis at FULL quality requires more resources than the current consoles have!!! The CPU is not everything. In fact, Memory is just as important.
Third, but 2012, we will be saving up for the next generation of consoles. Mark my words

No. PS3 and 360 don't have powerful enough GPUs to look as good as Crysis at max.
Don't be so naive as to assume that the PS3 cannot produce visuals equivilent to those produced on DX10 Hardware. The PS3 runs in OpenGL which does not have the limitations of DirectX. Open Source Code is practically infinate in its capabilities.raynimrod
I think so. PS3 doesn't suppost SM4.0 by RSX but it has Cell which can become a shader beast. I read it on Barry Minor's article.

because technology stands still for years at a time right  haze looks just as good as crysis on dx9. it is developed on 7 month old hardware. So do you think that in 5 years we wont even have anything better looking than haze? And also if you want to throw around "computer knowledge" you could accounnt for the use of the cell and rsx and how they share everything. Or maybe how opengl can be used in just the same ways as dx can and doesnt have the same limitations? Do not be naiive.Haze is not compariable to Crysis I'm sorry. And those tiny screens floating around to prove a point is laughable. Haze looks good yes, I'm buying it. But Crysis is king of physics and Graphics everyone nerd, geek, developer, programmer, gaming site knows this. Only console fanboys don't apparentlym0ney78i have been a pc gamer for years and if you look at the video of haze it looks very very similar to dx9 crysis. only pc fanboys do not realize this apparently.

They made Metal Gear Solid 3 with 32 MB system ram + 4 MB video ram, i repeat METAL GEAR SOLID 3 - 32 MB SYSTEM RAM + 4 MB VIDEO RAM !!!
Just imagine what they'll do with 512 !
Console specs never were and NEVER WILL be comparable to PC specs and i'm especially talking about the PS family.

In programming, there's hundreds of way to do the same exact thing. Some use more processor, others use more memory. DX10 is not needed for anything, because what DX10 does can be done manually by the devs if they take the time. Use the past as reference. If a game out by 2007 would be better looking than all the games by 2012, there would be no progress.
At even strenght, a console would be much more powerful than a PC, simply because a PC has much more things to handle beside the game. So even if consoles are weaker than PCs, consoles do have an advantage.
And what degrees in engineering do you have to know the full power of consoles that no games are far to reach for years? Haze is far to be running the current consoles to their maximum, and it still look this good, so imagine it to their full power.

dont you know? sony and microsoft invited him over for tea one day and showed him absolutely everything the ps3 and 360 can do. but only him because he is the chosen one.[QUOTE="menduco76"][QUOTE="retrib"][QUOTE="sxyflip212"]Is it possible to get graphics that realistic on the ps3? I would like to mention though that the PS3 only has 256MB (192MB if you discount the 64MB for the OS) of main RAM and it may not be possible to replicate massive fully destructible enviroments like in crysis how you can blow apart every branch and twig in the game in a large streaming enviorment. I fully believe that the PS3 could creat graphics as good as Crysis (maybe not on quite that scale though) but I believe it and the 360 will be limited by the RAM in each (the PS3 does have the plus of a guaranteed hard drive for faster streaming). I could be wrong as I am by no means a game developer but the amount of RAM available in each console will certainly play a role in physics and level size.
