It's because the thread says "Darksiders vs. Bayonetta" and not "God of War vs. Bayonetta."

If there was God of War in the title, more people would be here voting for God of War, but both of the games are those that seemingly fewer people care about in comparison to GoW.

Ah well... Bayonetta would lose a poll against God of War, but I'd be a liar if I said I wouldn't be happy about it.

I have enough time to play Bayonetta before GOW3 comes out. Also with Bioshock 2, BC2, FFXIII, Dante's Inferno, etc. I'll have to say sorry to Darksiders and Dark Void.

There are about 3 different offers for UK and NZ/AU regions, nothing for the US yet, other than Gamestop.

For now i'm holding out until GOW3 but Bayonetta exceeded my expectations, i find myself playing the demo over and over and still finding it fun. Don't get me wrong i enjoyed the GOW3 demo too and ripping off the heads of gods never looked so sweet, and have played enough GOW1&2 to fill over 4 PS2 memory cards, not a lot back then but hey it was a lot to me. Since i've seen nothing but videos and articles for Darksiders it hasn't fully grasped my attention like Bayonetta and GOW3 have.

The gameplay had potential because it had similarities to DMC. However, I thought it was rather simple imo. None of the weapons seemed to be any better than the others or seemed to be more effective on certain creatures. In DMC there are monsters that will go down faster when you use certain tactics/combos. I did not feel that in the Bayonetta demo. And I agree with you completely on the story as well as the lead character. I thought, as a woman myself, playing a female lead would be nice for once. But frankly everything about the character, from the summons to the constant posing every 5 seconds, annoys me. I'll just wait for Final Fantasy XIII to be able to play as a much better female lead.

EXACTLY!!! I'm a guy but I definitely like seeing a cool femail lead. I LOVED Heavenly Sword. And Lightning looks like she will be my favorite to come along in a while.

And now that you've brought it up, I think I have to agree with you on the combat too. All of the variety was nice... but it was a little empty. You're right, DMC had different styles for different weapons and everything felt 'different'. Bayonetta just has dozens of moves for the hell of it. Which could be cool I guess, but it's not immediately appealing to me. Still, even with all my gripes, I'll probably pick it up when it's around $30-$40... if the game release schedule slows down at all next year!

For my hard earned money? I am going for PS3 exclusives. Multi-plat games sometimes looked lame on PS3 compared to "the other" console.

Bayonetta has had my gaming dollars since November when I imported the JPN version. It's that good.

Darksiders looks to be awesome... Bayonetta looks to be meh in my book...

Bayonetta is doing the same thing, only that's a part of the game's theme, not something they're trying to make money off of. Platinum didn't make the game because they were horny, but because it was a theme that Kamiya wanted to cover: sexuality.

With Viewtiful Joe he played with 'beauty,' with Devil May Cry he played with 'cool,' with Okami he played with 'divinity,' and now with Bayonetta he's playing with 'sexuality.'

He's said this himself, but no one knows because he's not exactly the Cliff Blezinski of video games.

That makes no sense to me, the showcasing and flirtatiousness is a integral part of her character. If you take that aspect away, you're not even discussing the same character anymore. It's like saying "take away the rage, defiance against the odds, and Blades of Chaos, and Kratos would be an altogether boring character". Yes, he would, because he wouldn't be Kratos at all anymore. I'm not buying Bayonetta for the ass, though it certainly doesn't hurt. Admiring the female form, (and the male form, Balthier, I lub you) gorgeous as it can be, is not wrong even in this context and should not be looked down upon with the people who choose to do so being called losers or virgins. (even if you choose to do in a thinly veiled way, it's still not called for)

Bayonetta is a corny over the top game, yes. Why some of you still fail to realize that's done on purpose, I really don't know. If you expect a serious mature narrative from a game about a witch who wears her own hair and even makes weapons out of it, who rides a motorcycle into outer space and punches someone so hard their soul flies out the back of their body, then well... ok then! Good talk, see you around. Seriouslythough, play God Hand on the PS2. This is that game, with a female lead and an injection of more DMC like controls and perspective. Me? I'll get Bayonetta and God of War 3, two great games I'll enjoy instead of one. Sounds like a good deal to me.
