Data corrupt problems with PSP

Okay, I just some music on my 4GB SanDisk memory stick that I bought like two days ago from Wal Mart. Only problem though is that when I play music through my PSP it'll play for about thirty or forty seconds, sometimes less, and than go to the next song and the PSP will say that the data is corrupt.

When I play the same song through my PC, memory stick plugged into my multi-card reader, the song's play just fine.

Something wrong with my PSP? I haven't tried another memory stick yet.

I think it might be the song files.

If you have them saved on your PC, you should delete them from your memory stick and try re-transferring them back.

From my own experience, I've had some problems with them card readers/adapters and they don't transfer stuff right for me on certain memory sticks. You should try using a USB cable, it might make a difference.

How can it be a memory stick problem?

I said that they play just fine from the memory on my PC. On my PSP though it's when the data gets corrupted.

I've also setup my own media server using Apache and downloaded the files, instead of just copying them over, and that doesn't work either.

Edit: I can fast forward through the songs and they won't corrupt either, but if I play them regularly thats when the problems occur. If I fast forward through the song and replay it, it plays just fine. Until it gets to a point where I didn't fast forward through it.

Well, I returned the SanDisk and spent $5 more to get a SanDisk UltraII 4GB. I would have gotten a Lexar or Sony, but they were $16 more than the first SanDisk and $11 more than the UltraII.

First SanDisk was showing 3813 MB of User Capacity, this new SanDisk is showing 3904.

I'm also experiencing some weird corruption on my memory stick. I bought a new 16GB Lexar a couple months ago. It was working fine but all of a sudden my PSP stopped registering game saves on it. If I tried to save a game, the orange light flashed a bit and then it told me no stick was present. Now it seems to have stopped working completely and I can't access anything on it. It just sits there and the orange light blinks. My PC doesn't have a memory stick slot but I'll try it in my PS3 and see if it works. Hopefully it does. I've got a lot of stuff on that stick.

Try to format it again and then put music on it and see how it works. If that don't work then if you can, take it back and get another one. coolkid93

I spent an extra $5 to buy a SanDisk Ultra II 4GB and now I get approx. 5 MB/s write speeds compared to the 2.5 MB/s I was getting before. PSN games load much faster now and songs work just fine.

I'm pretty happy with the Ultra II, I haven't tested reading speeds, but the write speeds are nice for large files.

P.S. I have a PSP-1000, a 1001 to be exact.

I had a Sandisk memory stick for PSP. It also had corrupt data. When I used it in my PSP 1001. But worked fine in the computer. So I switched to a Sony memory stick. Just compatibility issue with Sandisk.
