Have fun, you die extremely fast, and only three saves the whole game...:D

I'm having trouble even on normal, they've really bumped up the difficulty since DS1.

Normal mode's pretty fair did chapters 1-6 in 2 hours didn't have a hard time.

But Hardcore mode, They made enemies tougher which is acceptable but 3 saves???!!?

im on the hardest difficulty right now, the one before hardcore mode, i think its called zeolot? anyways im 3 chapters away from finishing it and so far i put in about 9hrs into it. it wasnt difficult to be honest, but i did get a few cheap deaths here and there. game still alot of fun and def. going back to it for 2nd and 3rd play through. but ill save the hardcore mode for when i finally upgraded my whole weapons and suit. then ill give it a try.

even better lol. cuz the best way i found out from my co-worker who already beat hardcore mode, is to go through the game with only ONE or two weapons. and only upgrade ONE of them first to max before doing the other. and ge got through it with 2 saves. so im going to try that. makes sense to me. why try to get all weapons and waste money on all of them and nodes when u can do somethin like upgrading only ONE or two weapons and go through it

P.S and u sure u cant? i could of sworn i read and saw somewher eu can move ur upgrades and what not to the new game + but if that mean only in normal hard and zeolot modes then i guess like i said, upgrading ONE or two weapons is all u need. force gun and the pulse rifle. that will be my 2 main weapons

i just spoke to him, he used the plazma cutter and pulse rifle. he upgraded his rig, but his stasis was only half way cuz he used most of the upgrades on his guns.

I had this thought earlier today, can we upgrade all our weapons/suit on, lets say survivalist, then play zealot and hardcore with all these upgrades? It would be nice, that was the only thing about Dead Space 1 that I didn't like, having to start fresh if you wanted to up the difficulty.

Can anyone confirm this?

u cant carry anythin to hardcore :( u hve to start all over. i guess my stragedy for only upgrading ONE weapon and my rigs and stasis is only thing i can do. better anyways. this way its like the trophy from DS1 where u gotta ONLY use the plazma cutter to go through the game. i guess i gotta pick a good weapon and go through it.

There will be a hardcore mode walkthrough anytime now,

Well, the only thing that's making hardcore mode truly frustrating is you're only given 3 chances to save.

@JoKeR_421, I know you said that you can carry items/money over up to zealot difficulty, but does that mean I can complete normal and then go into zealot with all my equipment etc. from the normal play through? I ask because I have another source telling me no and you said you skipped right to zealot. Also Dead Space 1 only allowed you to carry over to the same difficulty.

Or can anyone else give me a clear answer on this, I'm starting a new game due to poor management on my half and would like to just breeze through on normal then go to zealot being armed to the teeth for the trophy.

At the same time, I would rather just play on zealot to start with if I can't carry over from normal difficulty.

Yea its easier if you used one or 2 guns in hardcore, i remember in DS1 i did finished hardcore with one gun which is the plasma cutter which wasn;t rly hard. Yet to give this one a go, zealot is fairly challenging.

I think i can survive with only plasma cutter(my favorite) i find other weapons pointless.

Everything is carried over to the next playthrough, right?

Beat Zealot pretty hard but ill try Hardcore soon only using the Plasma Cutter and perhaps the Force Guns for extra breathing room and to take out smaller more annoying enemys,

Does anyone know if you get the Collector's Edition bonuses on Hardcore mode? If so that wouldn't be too bad since I could get the Force Gun immediately. Just use that and the Plasma Cutter and that's it, game over :P

I have an off-topic question. Do you buy power nodes at the shop? or the power nodes scattered throughout the game are enough to upgrade everything?

You would need to do a few +New Game to max out everything, if you mean hardcore well it depends on what weapons and how many and other things you want to upgrade.

Now i get it. I maxed out Plasma cutter by chapter 9 and 3 upgrades left for RIG and Stasis. But my other weapons are all untouched. So i'll probably max them out on + new game, or at least 4 of them for the trophy.

A couple of facts about hardcore mode.

-NO new game+. You will have to start from scratch.

-Hardcore mode actually plays on normal difficulty, but with survivalist ammo/money/health.

People have been shooting for saves at chapter 5, 10, and 15. Others are going for chapter 8, 12, and 14.

Im on my way to a hardcore run, cant wait.

^ Are you sure it's playing on normal if it is then i won't have a hard time. Didn't die on Normal mode only Friggin' cheap deaths.

The fastest playthrough i saw was 5 hours and 36 minutes with only using Pulse rifle.

another question, What if i didn't save ? where will i start when i die?

I only use plasma cutter and pulse rifle. That's all you really need. Javelin gun is too slow of a reload for the charging necromorphs unless you get a clean headspike. I find Dead Space 2 to be really easy on normal. In the original Dead Space, I never used stasis and I do not plan to in Dead Space 2. Hardcore mode seems too brutal. 3 saves is ludicrous.

If it plays out like DS1 you will need to have completed the game several times to max everything out.

Dead Space 2 Hardcore mode made me cry. Anyone who tried it? How far did you go?

risako9

I got to chapter...crap I think it is four or five, the part when you first fight the stalkers. I have used up one if my saves and I don;t think i can get past these guys because I have no stasis and no ammo, i'm down to just throwing crap at them and that probably doesn;t even work on normal.

so let me get this straight... hardcore mode is basically normal mode, with limited ammo and stuff, and only 3 saves? with the three saves, can i save anywhere at any time? for example, if i choose to go to chapter 9 and save there, i have 2 saves left? what happens if you run out of saves, does death come and pick you up?

all joking aside, if this is the case, then i will start on my hardcore run immediately after ive finished on normal. ive died once on normal, and thats after chapter 7, when i wasnt paying attention.

If you use all three of your saves, then your only option is to complete the game without saving again.

I started on survivalist, which was challenging but doable. But I decided to switch to normal difficulty because I thought it would be a bit more fun not to die so often. And there's no real advantage to survivalist, it's not like you get an extra trophy or anything. I suppose after levelling up my stuff as much as possible I'll give zealot a go. Hardcore...that does not sound like much fun.

^What i did was finished normal (maxed out RIG STASIS and Plasma Cutter) then i started Zealot which made my playthrough easier.

then i'll get all the trophies to 99%. I doubt i'll ever finish hardcore mode.

Haven't tried hard core yet... I've cleared the game on normal 2 times, it's a little harder than DS1 but sill cleared it with no problems. I'm currently farming for power nodes on my 3rd round so that i can jump into Zealot and finally on Hard core.

[QUOTE="risako9"]

Dead Space 2 Hardcore mode made me cry. Anyone who tried it? How far did you go?

Broken_K

I got to chapter...crap I think it is four or five, the part when you first fight the stalkers. I have used up one if my saves and I don;t think i can get past these guys because I have no stasis and no ammo, i'm down to just throwing crap at them and that probably doesn;t even work on normal.

Idk why but i just cant help but laugh at this. Not in mean way but this part here "I have no stasis and no ammo, i'm down to just throwing crap at them". I wish u the best of luck in getting past that part and beating the game in hardcore. Also ty to the posters that clarified that you cant carry over upgrades in Hardcore mode my friend and I thought otherwise.
