Sup ??? For me personallly both games are great at what they do....Dead Space gave a new enviroment , futuristic style guns and posable button movements while aiming... For Resident Evil 5 its giving the same action we loved from Resident Evil 4 and placing it in Africa...and besides therre are tons more weapons to collect rather than in Dead Space...Dont get me wrong but Dead Space has a lot of replay value for me and i m simply loving the game but guys think about it...What did the others say Resident Evil 4 before it came out and after....??? Dudes just write your comment below

I love em both. The RE5 demo is sweet. I've seen a guy play and beat Dead Space and I will say, Dead Space is one of the scariest games I've seen. Both have action. Both have creepy nasties you have to shoot with some sweet guns. Both have a solid main character, except Isaac never talked and I personally think that Chris Redfield could take him on any day IMO. This is actaully a really though call for me. I'm gonna have to say RE5 because I've been down with the Resident Evil series for a looooooong time. Dead Space is a great game though and I recommend it to anyway who is a fan of survival horror games.

I really enjoyed Dead Space. I tried the demo for RE5 and I can't see myself playing through the entire game.

i made it to the 2nd level of dead space and it didn't draw me in enough to pick it back up. maybe i should try starting back out on it because i keep hearing good things about it, but i never really got it. i didn't think the first level was creepy at all.

First off, I have to start by saying I don't think it's worth much to compare a full game to a demo, but here's my take:

Avid RE fan since the first one (the reason I initially bought original Playstation) and I feel that the new herd of zombies and old school gameplay in RE 5 don't work well together. Additionally you're either babysitting a player or the computer (they both basically play the same if new to the series). Don't like co-op, think it was integrated crappy, and probably not going to be big on the game.

Dead Space sucked me in immediately, then it faltered off during levels 5-7, then came right back and ended with a killer mechanic. I like that I could shoot and backup, I appreciated being able to save when I want and skip it when I didn't, I also liked the fact that I was alone. This seems to be my biggest issue: not being alone.

Mark my words: Dead Space is probably the better game but Resident Evil 5 will definitely dominate the sales.

it's really a testament to the developers of Dead Space to see it being compared favorably to an established title like Resident Evil 5. their hard work really paid off, and they came out with a really good, EXTREMELY scary, and most importantly, really really enjoyable game.

now, a strict side-by-side comparison, while inevitable, is pretty hard to do... they're not really the same type of game. RE5's developers themselves have said that they are no longer making a survival-horror game, but an action-adventure one with a small amount of horror tossed in. Dead Space on the other hand, is strictly horror to the ninth degree! the mechanics in it are much slower and rely more on the atmosphere than the action.

i think that if RE had continured the path set in motion back for 1 or 2, up until Code Veronica, we would be able to say "this one is better because it's scarier" or "this one had better atmosphere" etc. However, with RE4 and 5 being more action-based, there really is no comparison. Dead Space has it beat in every category related to atmosphere, scary-ness, etc. though RE5 handles better and looks like it'll have a better story.

overall, they're both great, it's like having the age-old Apples vs. Oranges debate (i preferr oranges lol)

dead space took the controls that re4 introduced to us and refined them immensely. re5 is re4 with new graphics and a new setting as far as the controls go. dead space imo is much better from what ive played of re5, but both are great games.

What I find funny is that people come out and say that Dead Space is nothing but a rip-off of RE4, but then when the RE5 demo comes out everyone starts saying that the controls suck and that Dead Space will be the better game, even though RE4 used the exact same control scheme :?. Dead Space was a fun, yet painfully repetitive title that tried to play with the big boys and almost succeeded. RE5 however, is going to be a masterpiece, just like RE4 before it. Anyone complaining about control needs to get over themselves.

Id pick dead space, zombies just are not scary compared to fast moving and smart aliens, but only for now, the moment ALIENS is released im not gonna touch any other horror shooter again.

I would have said RE5 until i got a first hand look at the CO-OP. I understand the drive to stay "fresh," but having sheva follow you around like a useless kid sibling was annoying and removed the last elements of horror that had hung on to the series. I'll have ot wait for the final game, and I'm sure I will at least rent RE5, but that demo made me transfer my pre-order money to a SF4 tournament controller. Deadspace has been a pleasure all the way through!

I prefer Dead Space, personally. I fell in love with survival horror games because of RE1. When it reinvented itself as a completely flat, 3rd person shooter experience in RE4, I felt that the balance between action, suspense and puzzle solving had completely dissolved. Dead Space, however, not only delves into a great story and deep backstory, it executes in every aspect near perfectly, stating very clearly just how well it understands its genre. It both pays tribute to the classic conventions of survival horror at the same time it makes stretches into new gameplay features in just the right areas and degrees. The aforementioned balance is back; with excellent pacing, the game has scares, atmosphere building, head scratching brain teasers, and raw shooting action in equal measure. RE5 just lost touch with what I personally like in horror games. I don't mean to fault anyone who continues to like the franchise; I'm sure its a game that many can still appreciate, but if I really just wanted to run around and shoot as many zombies as i can, then I would do it with a game that seems more focused in such a purpose: Left 4 Dead.

To me Dead Space is Resident Evil 4 lite. Dead Space had some really great potential, but it was too one-note. Sure it was fun shooting the limbs off of the creatures for awhile, but that was really all you did the whole game. And I definitely wasn't impressed by the boss battles. Shooting glowing spots isn't my idea of a good challenge.

I played through Dead Space once and it had its good points - the visuals were excellent. And it was definitely atmospheric. But that is style over substance. And not even the lure of trophies was enough to get me to complete a second playthrough. As other posters have pointed out - Dead Space is just too repetitive.

Its hard to say from the demo whether RE5 will live up to RE4. But if it has at least as much action and variety as RE4, then it will definitely be superior to Dead Space. Action and variety is what made RE4 great - I played RE4 countless times on multiple systems because it was fun to try all the different weapons and use different strategies on different creatures.

Dead Space was successful at atmosphere but it definitley failed on variety. RE4 was successful at both. The jury is still out on RE5. But I think RE5 has a very good shot at succeeding at both style and substance.

I think a lot of people are missing a vital point. If RE5 was RE4 with better graphics people would be silly to complain. The problem is that RE5 is the parts of RE4 where you has Ashley following you but with better graphics. To burden you with an AI (or online CO-OP) partner the whole game was another disturbing step forward in the death of fun single player campaigns.

Dead Space for me. Resident Evil lost me as a fan with #4, and I was with the series from the start with the only ones I didn't play being the gun games and 1 of the Outbreak's. Bring it back to the fixed camera of 1, 2, 3, and Code Veronica to a lesser extent, but with everything updated and Capcom just might get my money again on this once great franchise. Hell, if they simply did a graphical update of all the old games and put them on a blu-ray I'd be one of the first in line to buy it.

i agree. while playing RE5 i thought just what you said. i got bored, and i'm a big RE fan. the game looked sweet, but i just never felt any connection. now i'm sure when i purchase the game in march that the loss of connection to the game will be removed, but for those that were on the fence on purchasing RE5 if the demo didn't do it for them then that may be one less purchase. i would like to see a study on whether demo's help sell games or not. i demo'd mirrors edge, and decided against a purchase. i'm guessing that if i had demo'd Assassins Creed the same thing would have happened. luckily that did not happen because i really enjoyed AC. oh yeah, i'd choose Dead Space BTW

I was thinking about Dead Space, but when I played the demo I didn't really like it that much.

I have to play RE5 over again. Only skimmed through the two stages and got killed by both of the super zombies lol

RE5 is going to be the better game in terms of the fun factor. The online/offline co-op reminds me of L4D, and with a proper headset this could provide some hilarious/awesome moments. Some would say the co-op is ruined by inexperienced players, but for god sake's it's only the demo give it some time.

Dead Space, on the other hand, just didn't do it for me. It's scary as hell though I'll give it that:shock:

If anything Homecoming was one of the worst horror titles I've played this generation. It doesn't hold a candle to the original games, or even Dead Space for that matter.

I enjoyed Dead Space but I will probably like RE5 more, based on the demo and the fact that I like RE4 more than Dead Space. Dead Space's controls are much nicer, but the environments are too repetitive. Everything is a dark corridor. And the co-op in RE5 is friggin' awesome.

I can't stand RE5 controls or gameplay in general. Can't move/shoot at the same time? What is this, PS1 days? Seriously, it's time to update the game and not have stupid crap like that going on.

Well since I haven't gotten to play the full version of RE5, it's hard for me to say just how good it will be. But judging from the demo, I don't think RE5 will be nearly as good as Dead Space was.

It's kinda of a in-between position. Both are pretty decent games, but I'd have to lean more towards the Resident Evil side, me of course being a huge RE fan. But if only Resident Evil 5 had Dead Spaces creepy/scariness factor and gore..then that'd shoot that game over the top on so many levels. But I suppose a watered down actiony Resident Evil 5 will have to do for me!

I am a huge Resident Evil fan ever since Resident Evil 1 on the Playstation. However imo I feel RE5 while still an okay game, is probably the 2nd worst Resident Evil game ive played (next to RE3). So that being said I feel Dead Space is better because it is way more scary plus it has a better atmosphere and gameplay to it.

RE5 is still an okay game but thats all it will be, an okay game.

Dead space for me. I can't get enough of that game. Countless playthrough and I still want to play it more. I've done everything you can do .. but there is just something awesome about running around alone on a space ship killing aliens.

I have Dead Space and completed RE5 and its a tough call. But I'm an action guy, so my vote goes to RE5. Dead Space was good but it didn't feel very fast paced - which isn't a fault, its the genre.

Mark my words: Dead Space is probably the better game but Resident Evil 5 will definitely dominate the sales.

im just like this guy, played every resident evil game a million times unlocked every secret possible in everyone of them, resident 4 was my favorite, but i didnt like part 5 at all . i actually stopped playing it. the whole coop thing ruined the game for me. I had a blast with dead space. from beginning to end
