Alright, so I'm also on this 360 community board and suprisingly enough this guy says that the PS3 is an unreliable piece of *bleep*. I was shocked to be honest. I've never even heard of a defective PS3. Not once has someone even complained. So I went on a mission to look on google. Nothing. I didn't find a poll, a complaint, a story, nothing about a defective PS3. This guy is apparently on his 3RD PS3. Lie? I think so. So i'm wondering how many of you have had your PS3 defected? Because I know that the PS2 was awesome. I had the original and then gave it to my sister and she broke it and it was a launch console. So my faith in the PS3s reliability is high.

HD AV component using 360 is working on our LCD so i guessed LCD is not the problem? best i can do is call sony for best advise they can give if it still dont work i'll get refund and buy from other store. maybe our sony KDL-40W2000 has problems on its HDMI perhaps trying a different connector like HD AV component? but its frustrating when you have ps3 for your b-day but its not working properly:(

i read about the features or revised features of updating your ps3 it mentioned auto detecting HDMI or other cables i think maybe this is the solution? playing ps3 in 567i is still good but i like it to be perfect and at its best at 1080p.

Take it to the shop with your HDMI cable and make the clerks try it out on their LCD tv.
I'm on my second xbox right now and yet it still craps out on me a lot. A lot of devices i get for it stop working also like my headset which slowly broke everytime i used it, then the wireless network adapter i got for it which too was slowly dying everytime i used it till it got to the point that it didn't work. Its sucks because two of my favorite games fell victim too. Call of duty 2 and Quake 4 were eaten by the disc drive. I'm going to wait for halo 3 whether i decide to trade in for a playstaion 3 or not.
There is nothing wrong with the ps3. That guy was just a lying dork. There was a poll last time and its came out to 3% of people having problems with their system. Compared to the 20%-30% on the other forum the ps3 is built to last in comparison.

unfortunately they said they dont have one coz i bought it from blockbuster small shop not like in town centre. but they'll try it. or get a refund. must call to sony later.
Thanks for this thread and poll. I have not heard anything about PS3s being defective either. That's a pretty good impression of how good the console is. But, let's really think about it, for $600, you would expect it not to be defective. I would be highly pissed if I put that much money up for an equipment and it becomes defective.   I am still holding out on getting a PS3.

All computers freeze, the more complex they are the more likly it is to happen, this is normal and not a defect, hell windows is the biggest culprit of that. As for ps3's being defective, well, i dont have one, but, ive seen two reports other than this one about consoles being replaced, not what id call and emergency, dont worry about it, at this stage it seems at lot more reliable than the xbox 360.

we haved the problem, we went to our friends house tried on their LCD. the AV for video we put it on the left side coz we used to put it at the back of the LCd. and their it is the HDMI got detected but we were worried our LCD was the problem so tried the same and it did work and is set to 1080p! mannnn this is hot like red hot chilly!!!!!8) now i can enjoy playing!!!!!

naw the ps3 has no problems even if it had some problem the updates fix that but any machine problem naw Ps3 is too good and tp expensive to have problems like that so my point is that u pay for wat ur supose to get a system with no problems.

I've had my ps3 since the U.S launch, and have had 0 problems with it!!! But you know you have opened up the door for trolls/fake ps3 owners to make a statement.
