I got a used DVD yesterday and I noticed there was a sticker on the disc, so I went ahead and took it off (because I'm OCD like that) and it left a little bit of the sticker glue on it. Not thinking about it I watched it on my PS3 and then I couldnt get it to come out, it sounded like it was trying to come out but was stuck. After pressing the eject button a bunch of times it came out, but it scared the crap outta me. I watched a different movie later that day and then it took two tries to get out.  It works fine now, but I just wanted to warn every1 in case this may have permanent damage.  Then again you guys may have more common sense than me....

Its an honest mistake I know you're more used to placing DVDs and CDs on a tray, so the experience of a sticky top didn't occur til know. It's a great warning, i never thought about that.

wow dude you are really lucky it came out. if that was me i probably would have taken it back to the store... taken it apart and broken it because i'm dumb. or i would have taken it apart and, by a stroke of luck, gotten it together perfectly fine but, later it broke and the "do not remove or warranty shall be void" stickers are removed and the guy at sony would get pissed and send it back to me and i would smash it with a hammer.

I actually thought of this before attempting to try my Oddworld Abe's Exoddus game from PS1 in my PS3. I bought the game used and took the sticker off of it. The top was really sticky, but it didn't affect my PS1 or PS2. The solution is to get some kind of a liquid cleaner that is potent enough to get rid of the sticky, but wont hurt the actual game. A product I use is "Goo-gone". It's works really well.

I've never heard of that stuff.... I've always used lighter fluid (it works really well), but I didn't have any around and didn't really think it would matter.  O well, live and learn.

Also Isoproply Alcohol...you can get at your local drug store...really cheap and is safe to use on CDs or DVDs because it evaporates very quickly...but yeah...I would have never even thought about the DVD getting stuck...

You're OCD enough to take the sticker off but not OCD enough to get some alchohol or something and clean off the glue?

But if you don't feel like going out looking for the solution, just get a piece of tape, place it on top of the sticky goo and gently pull it off. That is what I do. It takes a while, but it works.

Whenever i buy a used DVD or Game i always check to see if there are any stickers on the disc, stupid EB games and Blockbuster are the biggest culprits, i just tell them to get me a different disc. And if they don't i just grab a different copy of the game, since each one has a different disc.

WD40 also works well for removing excess adhesive.

This is why i dont buy used games from blockbuster video or even rent. all their games have stickers on them and they can not only cause danage to the inside of the system for various reasons but the stickers throw off the balance of he spinning disk which can also mess up your drive.
