Or maybe it's not scary at all... maybe it is.... maybe it's frustrating.... maybe boring... What do you think and have you turned the sound off hoping for something different ?

Never turned it off, but I once played the first Resident Evil with Kenny G blasting from my stereo. Let's just say it was some of the smoothest and jazziest zombie killing I had ever experienced.

Horror games should always be played in the dark, alone and with the volume all the way up. (Especially with a 7.1 surround sound system). :P

No, obviously. What's the point of playing a horror game at all if you aren't going to play it in the most atmospheric conditions possible?

I got a nice story to tell, the first time I played Uncharted, it was 2am and I was at Chapter 17, you know those things, at first they kinda gave me the creeps. Then like 3 mins later I could listen something scratching my door, and I freaked out...it was my dog trying to enter. :(

Yeah it was midnight for me when I got to that part. And then one of them jump on me and so I freaked out and franticly shook the controller like an idiot. Lol, that was awesome.

I know I think the same as you guys but I'm just trying to find out if there is anyone doing that because in another discussion about all this stuff someone mentioned about turning off sound and many agreed.

I cannot comment on having 7.1 sound systems (even though that sounds sick!) however having the sound on a horror game is perhaps the most important thing ever. It was mentioned in one of my film lectures that 90% of all successful horror films will use sound to it's advantage, so to play a game which is suppose to highten the tention and create fear with out any sound really cheapens the effect of the game.

Oh fact the only soundtrack Resident Evil 1 on the gamecube needed was just the music and sound effects i have never seen two people **** themselfs when you heard Lisa Trevor dragging her chains across a wooden floor before.

Of course not. I turn off sound only when a certain game frustrates me.
