I was wondering, since the Blu-ray disk can hold up to 50gb and a DVD can only hold up to 9gb, does any of the PS3 really take advantage of this extra space? I would think by owing a PS3, we would get extra goodies and levels from developers over Xbox 360 equivalents because the disc can hold more.

i remember kojima saying he ran out of space for mgs4, though he only left out little things like languages for multiple regions. beyond that, i never really heard too much about game size. i just remember that the kz2 demo was pretty big and it was only part of a level.

It's 25gigs single layer.

50gigs dual layer.

They're continuing to expand the capacity. The last I've heard, they're pushing for 400gigs. Though, *right now* MGS4 is the highest known one out there. Running on a dual layer.

Well the major benefit is the possibility of larger more in depth games. Less compression which is a plus when it comes down to quality, gives developers free reign when it comes down to implementing their imagination into games (they're not limited). All those things I touched on and a few others I can't think of right now are pretty much why the PS3 has a slight advantage over the 360.

Uncharted 1. Uncharted 2 is taking up a full single layer of blu ray. Metal Gear Solid 4, Heavenly Sword I think used like 10GB. FF13 and Rage will use it so it doesn't have to be on multiple discs. Ratchet and Clank uses it. If quest for booty was almost 2.5 GB, I can imagine what tools of destruction takes and a crack in time. Motorstorm uses it, You are going to see it in PS3 exclusives. We all know Heavy Rain uses it. It has to with those graphics.Lair uses it.

Right now blu ray is being usedfor graphics and to putlarge games on to a single disc.

MGS 4, Final Fantasy 13, and Rage.

FF13 and Rage for sure, as the 360 versions will be 3+ DVDs.

I can confirm Metal Gear Solid 4 used a lot if not all the space on Blu-ray.

If you ever have a chance to hear uncompromising 7.1 surround sound in that game, it will blow you away how amazing it actually is. That feature alone took ridiculous HD space not to mention superb and very long cut-scenes.

An epic proportion game. ;)

Hell ya man look at FF13, LBP, Rage, Dragon Age, Demon Souls, MGS4 had to use a double layer disc which is 50gb and I think single layer is 25gb.

Well developers don't have to compress their games as more or at all with Blurays. That is one reason the games may be that large. Also no or less compression can mean better quality. Also some games are just freaking huge... So yeah games take advantage of the large space.

Graphics do have a bit to do with it, but that doesn't mean a game goes from 5 gigs (last gen) to 30 gigs... I mean Crysis is only 6.2 gigs. Just saying...

And sorry for double post.... in a way a double post... but different things said...
