Do Gamers Really Want "Home"?

Im to the point where I could take it or leave it. It's turned into the PS3's Lochness monster for about the last 5 months.hillelslovak

If I found the Lochness monster, that would be so cool.  But if Home came out, I doubt I would be so excited. hahah

That's a good mentality to have on the internet.

And while I agree that Home is a bit redundant, it is far from point less, because it does have a point: to provide a social gathering that's more accessable to casual gamers.

I understand you're hardcore, so it won't affect you, but don't go around saying it's "pointless" when it isn't, because that's called lying.

I'm personally enjoying the beta, HOME is free, if you don't like it or have no use of it, it's simple - Don't use it.

Thousands of others will socialise together while gaming. The power of choices. ;)

I've been looking forward to Home for a long time. It's a beautiful thing, and it's free. I actually think it'll be one of the selling points of the PS3 in the future. I don't know of any chat programs on my PC that would compare to Home visually or in terms of perks, like walking around chatting with a bluetooth headset, or the media capabilities that Home has (the home theatre seems like a really great function). Being on the PS3 means we won't have to worry about spambots or hackers--which have pretty much destroyed the chatting scene on the PC, at least for those of us who know what it used to be like years ago.

I'm sure it seems pointless for people who aren't into the 3D chatting thing, but it does excel at what it's designed to do. If anything, it sweetens the free online capabilities of the PS3 quite a bit.

I've read Nogard229 comments and its seems to me that you actually made this thread just to talk sh** about Home, you're wasting your time on a forum, why not play games-based worlds while doing the same thing you're doing here, also as for the last post about "fake friends", well, i have some friends who also have a PS3, i could go there with them too, it's kinda funny to watch a 3d character controlled by a friend instead of just watching them

I wouldn't say I'm really excited about it, but I'm interested to se what it will be like.

Good on Sony for trying something new.

home will be neat at first...a week later most people wont take the time to boot it up unless they have a bunch of online friends....my prediction anyways.

im pretty sure most gamers would have preffered features like being able to sign into psn with more than one account...theyve wasted too much time and money on home. ill prolly use it some times....but it defnetly wont change anything about the ps3. its pretty obvious gamers gave up on home....sony should have too a long time ago. but then we'd all be crying about how we never got home...oh wait.....we havent

i don't like the look of home and it just looks like it's going to become an obsession for people, and since it's online and if it actually takes off, where are the rest of the online gamers gonna be?

I for one can't wait till Home comes out and it will have many great features that will amuse me. What everyone is not seeing is that Home is a social network, so if ppl complain about the features and also the lack of experience they have with it just because they're in the closed beta, don't use it, simple as that. It's just a beta so far, it'll only get better as time goes so I'm not worried. Bottom line is when it comes out, it comes out. Just keep playing games and so forth with the PS3 and just enjoy it. That's all.

I consider myself a hardcore gamer as well but I can't be hardcore all the time. Having some time to chill with some other people online wouldn't be bad. Plus it's free so hell, give it to me :lol:

I think it's a cool concept, but it all depends on how Sony can pull it off.

Sharing music, photos, videos, and trophies in your private pad with all of your PSN friends could be potentially awesome.

If you can jump into online multiplayer games seamlessly, then it would basically function as a 3D Home version of the party system that most online games have - that would be great as well.

Also, going to a public arcade spot or a bowling alley in a 3D virtual world could potetntially be the 3D Home equivalent of flash games like on Addictinggames.com which would be amazing.

Doing other things like watching game trailers and movie previews in 3D would be a nice touch.

The potential is there, but if Sony messes it up by putting too many restrictions on what is available and what we can and can't do, then it'll become just another gimmick to sell consoles and to give Sony a platform to advertise more.

However, if it lives up to its potential, it could be far more than a gimmick and it could actually be considered innovative.

I'm looking forward to it as well.
