Do PlayStation 3 come with a HDMI cord?

I'm going to buy a PlayStation 3 soon. And i want to know do the 80 gig come with a HDMI cord? Or is it like the Xbox 360, that i only comes with HDMI if you buy the 160 gig? And the 80 gig can play all PlayStation 2 games right? Thanks.

No. The PS3 ships with composite cables. You will have to buy an HDMI cable seperate. Also the PS3 no longer has backwards compatability with PS2 games.

No it doesn't, which sucks. Luckily, they're quite cheap though. And no PS3 plays PS2 games, only PS1 games. Unless you're talking about the 80GB/MGS4 bundles if any of those are left.Floppy_Jim

Yeah as said b4 any HDMI cable can work. I myself got a cyclone HDMI from best buy for about 40$ not to bad. Oh Only the Launch 60GB has a chip that plays PS2 and PS1 games. The early 40GB and the new 80GB MGS4 Bundle not the reg 80GB has software emulation not a chip that plays PS2 and PS1 games. Anyways even with a HDMI a great TV and upconverting with your PS3 to HD for your older games still looks like crap even if you have a 60 which I do.A PS2 looks alot better than the PS3 BC chip or software. I can't imagine how blockier, fuzzy, or I guess Jaggie the software emulation is but the chip does no justice. If you want to play PS2/PS1 games get a PS2 they are really cheap now. Yeah Sony did nothing really for the BC on ANY PS3 sorry. Nuff Said

Get your HDMI cables online from somewhere like monoprice.com. I got a 6 foot cable from them for a few dollars + shipping.

The 80 gig motorstorm bundle is backwards compatible. Get sony hdmi's there like 45 dollars I saw cheapiest.

Super expensive gold HDMI cables are a huge waste of money, the quality difference (there isnt one) does not justify the $70 price increase
