I was wondering from the people at gamespot forum if you buy games used or new. I understand the debate that people who buy games used at Gamestop, EB games, Ebay, etc. used. You don't support the developers. But for the consumer, you save money. I will admit that I buy most of my games used. Just wondering what people have to say about this topic.

It really depends on the game itself if I can find a game new then I will go new but if I can't find a game new then I will buy the game used. This only goes for games that appeal to me.

A mix of both. Sometimes you'll find those b2g1 free on used games so I might spring for it then.

I prefer new. I only get used games if I can't find a new copy. The only used game I have right now is Marvel vs. Capcom 2 (PS2).

I buy new games. The only time I buy used is if it's an older game I'm looking for and can't find a copy otherwise.

For the PS3, I buy new since the used one isn't much of a different in price in the UK.

If I know I want the game and want more like it, then I'll buy it new to also support developers. However, if its a game I'm a bit iffy about and not sure if I'm going to like it then I'll buy it used so that if I finish it before seven days I can just return it and get money back or return it if its busted.

Cheapest option.
Once there was a deal in gamestation for a game:
New - 39.99
Buy with any used gam and get if for 24.99

So I bought a 1.99 used game. ;)

Depends on the game. For the games I know I'll like and the big name games, I buy new. For the rest, I'll rent first, and if I like it, I'll buy used.

I have an 18+ year collection and I like all of my game related items in mint condition, so I always buy new unless a sealed copy is VERY hard to find and expensive like MvC2 lol.

Will admit that I agree with your statement. That is why I was curious about how many people buy new games vs used games like Gamestop. Yet large companies such as EB or gamestop is legal. In many ways, I like the company that is in our city that sells used games. Many games to choose from. Will admit that about 70% of my games are used. Blu-ray don't seem to scratch that easy compared to dvd.

For me, it depends on the price difference. If a used copy is only $7 cheaper, I will go for the new copy to support the devolpers. But it can be hard for deals like 'buy 2 get on free'. About trading my games in, I don't. I try to trade with a friend. Hate to say it, but these large companies rip people off. Not trying to gather a rally to boycott, but it's common sense.

After reading some of the post, I am thinking about spending an extra $7 or so to support the game market. And like what many have said, it's guanteed to be in mint condition.

I almost always buy new, I prefer it cuz some used games have scratched discs or cases in poor condition. I have bought used games but some haven't worked.

New, used games are usually only a couple bucks cheaper, missing manuals and the possibility of having scratches. But I buy used PS2 games cause the prices vary considerably.

You can find new games cheap if you are patient. I got COD4 for $48 and DIRT for $30 on Black Friday from Amazon. A few months back Toys R Us had a deal where I was able to get Madden 08 for 48, and any other game for half off (Resistance for $30). Also Toys R Us has twice done a deal this year where you buy 2 games and get 1 free, so each game is about $40. Not too bad if you ask me.

for everyone thats saying you buy yours new because you get them scratched, try to buy a used ps3 game or blu ray movie, sony puts something on the discs to help them from getting scratched, go try it with one of your games, drop it on the floor, put your foot on it, slide it around a bit, no sctratches

^^^ Now that you mention this i accidentally touched the surface on Uncharted B-D and wiped off with my shirt and noticed that came off CLEAN  now by this i mean when you wipe clean a brand new music CD or a DVD you can see little tiny scratches on it

So i believe you but i dont dare to test the foot on the floor thing but if some1 else do let us know the result

Almost always used now. There is a store down the street from my house that sells games for dirt cheap compared to EB and all those other major outlets. I also have a 10% off card for the store so I can normally get them pretty cheap.
