Lol actually, in the months following the point of having sold my PS3 I was using it for nothing but Blu-Ray movies and some music.

is this a joke??, i mean seriously, lets get one thing straight sony made blu ray, there best blu ray player is the ps3, look it up the only way to get better is to spend silly money but the all round best blu ray player is a ps3,
if i have a ps3 i'm not going out and buying dvd's anymore i'll buy blu rays, for the sheer fact there alot better quality even the rubbish films now come on blu ray at better qaulity than dvd and you can get them pretty cheap now, and yes there quite expensive new but so were dvd's when they first came out, so why wouldn't anyone use there ps3 for blu rays, plus i love collecting films more than i do buying games.

as for music that depends doesn't it and the set up and how old you are, i have my ps3 and pc hooked up to my 60in led tv, but i use my pc for browsing the web and my ps3 for everything else, once i get myself a proper pc monitor i will be moving my pc into it's own room so i can start setting up a gaming pc, but the ps3 is everything, ui mean it plays music, dvd's, blu rays, and games, the web browser is rubbish in my opinion and doesn't load up web sites properly and it can't update things so it's very poor i'm talking web video players and java, so half the websites don't load properly,

like i said it all comes down to how old you are and your living situation, as for me i have a house, a girlfriend, a child, so i have lots of space to have them all, if ur at uni, then course ur gonna have them in the same room next to each other or you live at home and you have it in your bedroom your'll put ur blu rays in ur pc because ur on it more but for me i have the luxury of being able to sit on a nice sofa and watch a blu ray on a 60in but i worked hard for it, all i need now is a surround sound system and i'll be on my way

I never considered getting a blu-ray player until i got a ps3 for gaming. now my blu-ray collection is steadily growing. it's still only a few because I have tons of DVD's but now only buy blu-ray. as for music I prefer using my computer just because I never felt like uploading all of my songs onto the ps3, plus it saves some of my HD

Why would we lie about bluray. I have about 40 blurays now, I just bought 4 yesterday, it is all I use my ps3 for.

Last time I bought a Blu-Ray? Today. Have you ever used your PS3 for music playback? No. Blu-Rays are awesome and you'll never want to look back at DVDs when you try your first Blu-Ray. For music though I find the PS3 interface just isn't quick and intuitive enough so I play my music through my comp.

I bought a program online from Iskysoft that burns any video or audio format, so yeah, I have burned the DVDs that I watch over and over to my PS3 HD in DIVX format (seems to be the smallest file size of all the PS3 supported ones without sacrificing any quality) but I have an ipod like most people so the audio portion is not for me, yet anyway.

> Bring me some more nachos... and don't forget the jalapenos... I WANT MY FARTS TO HURT!!!!!! - Steve Smith (American Dad)

Boogernuts
wrong. HD in divx format is not even close to a bluray disk.

Yep, i just use it to game (obviously) and watch a few blu-rays here and there. Watching your favourite movies in HD is simply the way to go :)

Woah woah woah chill guys. Here's why at first I couldn't relate to you all. Music: For what? My computer is right next to my PS3, is always on, and is much faster than the XMB interface for weaving through my THOUSANDS of songs. Plus, I save PS3 hard drive space. Blu-rays: I watch them on my computer once again. Yeah they're pretty great picture wise. I don't know too much about surround sound setups. I'm still rocking a 2.1 system. Anyone wanna link me to some decent surround sound setups for under 80 bucks? Web browsing: My smartphone's browser kills the PS3's. And my computer already has a decently large monitor setup to it, so I do most of my web browsing on there. Your PS3 and computer are RIGHT next to each other attached to two separate screens. Which do you choose for your web browsing, music, and blu-rays, and WHY? That's all I want to know.getsmizacked

In that case leave the playing for PS3 and the rest for PC

completely agree about the blu ray and dvd thing, i'm a serious movie collector i have 1000's of dvd's but once i got a ps3 and tried blu ray and then tried dvd i just couldn't do it, esp when were buying bigger tv's for cheaper dvd's just don't look right at all on larger sets through the hdmi cables for me anyway and i've completely stopped buying dvd's now and only buy blu rays, on the odd time i see a dvd for dirt cheap do i buy one like when i was going about my shopping and sure how high for £1 new i couldn't not get it.

I use it for Bluy Ray's and DVDs. Occasionally I'll listen to music on there as well, and it can be useful for ripping CDs.

Yes, I buy Blu-Rays and of course I use my PS3 to play them. Why waste money and space on a Blu-Ray player when I have a PS3.

Music-no Blu-Ray movies-of course. I don't see why anybody wouldn't take advantage of that feature in their PS3.

I bought a separate player because I wanted my PS3 to last, I did that when I realized how much of an upgrade the blu-ray format was and that I'd be doing almost all my movie watching on blu-rays from that point onward. Sometimes I might watch a blu-ray AND play a few hours of gaming in a single night (especially on weekends). So that might mean my PS3 was on for 5,6,7 hours or more. Sometimes (rarely, but sometimes) I even do gaming sessions alone that are that long. So what if I take after a long gaming session I take a break then want to pop in a late night movie before going to bed? I can't just have my PS3 on all the time. At the very least, when my PS3 gets a workout like that the fan gets a little loud, which can intrude during the quieter scenes of a movie.

My standalone Panasonic was only $79 a couple of years ago, so it made sense to buy that to give my $299 PS3 (at the time) a bit of a break. Both are still going strong.

Mostly gaming. I listen to music if I can play it in a game and once in a while a bluray movie for my son. A lot for Netflix.

I don't use Blu-ray on PS3 because I have Net Flix and Movie/TV Show torrents on my PC/Mac.

Don't listen to music on my PS3 because I also torrent my music from sources I won't mention.

Only use my PS3 for gaming, Net Flix and once in awhile checking the web browser.
