I research the game on gamespot first, see what the users think of it, ask my friends if they know about it, and then i'll buy it. I only rent games when i have a bunch of friends over and we need something new to play.

Buy.Â
I read reviews to get an idea of gameplay then I factor in my own opinion.
I rent games that are short/no replay value. I will also rent games that score low just to be masochistic.
I usually pre-order the upcomming games I might like from one of the biggest online shops here in Switzerland :)
I do both. Quite a few games I pre-order (F1 2010, WRC, GT5 etc ) but others I will rent first. As a family we rent a lot of games especially for the younger kids since they are inevitably attracted to things they know so renting first saves a lot of money on many of the poor titles :)
If I know a game is going to be really amazing, I'll buy it.
If a game looks decent, but not worth a purchase, then I'll rent it
Well, if it looks really awesome I might pre-order it. If it looks interesting I'll probably read some reviews and, assuming it's good, maybe buy it at full price. Or wait a while. If it looks good but not great, I'll wait for it to hit the bargain bin.
I never rent games.
I have never rented a game. I'll play a demo if possible but all the games I buy I research them first.
Usually, I just buy a game but not until I do a little research on the game. Or I'll just borrow from a friend.
I usually preorder and don't care about reviews. I bought White Knight Chronicles and had a lot of fun. And I bought Red Dead Redemption and thought it was one of the worst game I played on PS3. There are some games for which I wait. I just bought modnation racers because I think 60$ is too much for a kart racing game.. anyway.
I usually pre-order games off Amazon, but mostly the AAA titles I pretty much know what I'm getting. Sometimes I also go for "bargain" bin games as well. So I buy the vast majority of my games either day 1, or bargain bin. Not much in between.
I don't mind renting though. My local blockbuster doesn't have a huge selection, but since nobody goes there just about every game they do have is always available - save for maybe Call of Duty and Madden 11. I rented Mag right after release (just to check it out), Heavy Rain, and Terminator Salvation. There's probably about 10 other games I really should rent and blow through them in 1 week, but between my "backlog" of games, and with Medal of Honor/Black Ops/Gran Turismo 5 all on the horizion... I just don't have time.
Unless I have MAJOR hype for the game, I normally just Gamefly it. I dont like spending $60 on a game that Ill only play for a few weeks. if I dont rent or buy and Im interested in the game then Ill check the bargain bin
I always buy since EB GAMES Aus has a 7 day game trial policy....If I don't like the game I take it back within a week and it's all good ;)JasonDarksaviorNo way, how does that work, r u in north america ? :O
