Do you think that MGS4 is the FIRST PS3....

Game that will actually DELIVER?? the first exclusive game that will truly ROCK!!! I m not saying that Uncharted or Heavenly sword were bad... just that they were not good enough to get a ps3 for....

Now that Haze floped ( atleast @ ign) I think that MGS4 is going to be the first game that will actually be very very good :)

Resistance COD4 and GTA all delivered didn't they? Well for me they did.

well uncharted was mine exclusive that made me happy about the ps 3. i must of beat it 6 times or more. unlocked everything.

plus rachet and clank was great as well.

sigma was great to and it was an exclusive for me because did not get to play it last gen.

I can see what you mean. When looked at together I think we have a solid selection of exclusives (Uncharted and Resistance being my personal highlights). We are just lacking a real AAA title that will set our library apart from the competition.

The PS brand has always been better at providing niche games that cater to a certain audience (games like Siren: Blood Curse and Heavy Rain will probably fall under this category). Even in the PS2 days the only real mainstream hits we had were MGS and GOW.

Yeah. It better if PS3 intends to stay marketable.

I know I sound like a fanboy saying this but I don't care. If I was interested in buying a PS3, it would take quite a few more excellent games to win me over. Not only that, but the lack of backwards compatibility makes this a much harder option.

For 500$ and limited backwards compatibility, PS3 better start getting some fantastic games if it wants my business.

Games like MGS4 and sequels to great PS2 series is what is needed to tap into the reserves of PS2 users to start Playing B3yond.

MGS4 will be a system seller, drawing out all the PS2 fans. I personally know a kid who has an xbox and is buying a PS3 just because he's a fan.

Resistance 2, and Little Big Planet and maybe Singstar, as those will catch the attention of casual gamers.

Resistence & Motowrstorm for me, Uncharted was great but some graphical issues like pop in ruined it for me, id expect a little of that in GTA but not a game like uncharted felt a lil unfinished & rushed.

Really? I never noticed any pop-up in Uncharted. The only minor graphical problems with Uncharted were, loading of textures in the beginning of levels, and screen tearing when you swing your camera around fast.

yeh thats what i mean loading textures, in at least 2 levels it was very noticble.

Uhm, as far as I remember there were quite the few "exclusives" for the PS2 that rocked, only noone really hyped the fact they were PS2 exclusive.

Remember ratchet & clank, jak & daxter, maximo, zoe2... and those are only those that I remember and I'm sure there were a hell of ALOT more...

Few exclusives made me happy to own PS3 already, along side few mutltiplatform games. The most effort and hard work however that the console system deserves will start with Metal Gear solid 4.

It will set the standard for other developers to pick up their game and start exploring the PS3 capabilities.

I totally agree with you, it'z funny you should mention uncharted and heavenly sword because those are the only two games i even gave a chance after borrowing my friends PS3. Which of both, are kinda PS2 standereds.

I play for game play not graphics.

MGS4 wil definitly put developers on their toes and actually start making good games. it just takes a while.

I hope that it will deliver because I've been playing COD4 since it came out and its a great game, I'm also playing ninja gaiden sigma and I'm about to beat it so thats only going to last so much longer, I just bought GTA4 and am disappointed with it, and last but not least is warhawk which I never touch.

There is only one other game out there I'm willing to buy at the moment and thats uncharted but since its been so many months since the game was released I will wait for a price drop.

I just picked up a PS3 yesterday along with Heavenly Sword, Uncharted, Ratchet, Burnout and Condemned 2. 3 exlusives and 2 multi plats. I'm enjoying all of them. I didn't get the system for MGS though. I'm not a big fan at all of the series. I'm more interesting in games like Motorstorm, Tekken, God of War and the like which afaik are ps3 exclusive. Maybe not system sellers but they look good to me.whoozwah

Well it really depends on personal tastes.

Seeing as how, I'm a big Metal Gear fan and had no interest in those other games you've mentioned, I think my answer is pretty clear.

I guess what I don't like about all of this is the fact that as of now, PS3's imminent future depends upon the success of MGS3.

Fine, Halo did that for the first Xbox. But now the 360 is out and it's got quite a better selection of exclusives that do their jobs better than most of the titles available to the PS3.

Is the 360 as reliable as the PS3? I believe that's a resounding no.

The thing that intrigues me about the PS3 is the Hi-Def option, free online, and a few other things. Games are not on that list for a reason.

The 360 interests me through it's fantastic, albeit not free, internet service, more fantastic exclusive games than PS3, and price.

I have a Wii, so nothing needs to be said there.

I look at MGS4 as Atlas, the god holding up the planet. Without it, PS3 is looking pretty desperate for games indeed.
