Do you think the XMB-only backround downloading is a bs rumour stirred up by some xbox fanboy to make the ps3 seem like a piece of crap? i mean there saying the ps3 might not have enough free system ram while running games? If this is true than how would it be possible for sony to get enough ram or resources off the ps3 to run the rumored Playstation Home? This just doesnt make sense to medumasyounis1234

Actually I think background downloading has been all but confirmed by Sony. I think it was basically said it would be available in an interview with Phil Harrison or someone else in Sony.jlabadie88he acutally said it will be available in afew weeks for update 1.6. its been about 3 weeks now and im still saying whats up. I think the update might be this week, because i hear the big update for japan and US is march 8th and Europeans get it with the system

That'd be cool, I was thinking it would be at like, the end of the month.
Background downloading requires very little RAM. I'd be more concerned about network bandwidth, and wouldn't recommend that anyone play any important online matches while downloading in the background. Especially those who only have WiFi.LoneStranger

Does background downloading in game really matter ?I agree.
As long as we can pause / resume downloads and go through PSN store to que up downloads i think we will be right ... nothing wrong with letting PS3 download while you watch a Blu-ray movie or go do sumthing else ...
