vita seems pretty expensive but if you compare it to gaming laptops and other devices there is no comparison at the 250 dollar range what do you think, i think if it has the right games like shooters obviously there will be no competition in the 250 dollar range and i say it as a pc gamer. The graphics are very comparable to mid range pc games which many 400 dollar notebooks would have problems with.

No it's not 'worth more' but it's better value. Gaming laptops are legendarily overpriced, as you have to buy them pre-built. A decent gaming laptop will set you back atleast $800. Obviously the graphics and controls of the games it will play will surpass the Vita's games, but at the price point, the Vita is still far better value for money.

This is of course assuming you're buying a laptop soley for the purpose of gaming - if you need a new computor then I'd recommend a decent computor. So it's all down to what you need overall, really.

I have a laptop with decent specs that I use for gaming, and I can say that if you're looking for portability, the Vita is beyond compare. Sure, I sometimes bring my laptop to a friend's for LAN play or the like, but obviously I can't take it out and play in a car. The Vita, on the other hand, can be brought anywhere. My $700 (a year ago) laptop gets graphics a little better than the Vita, but I can't take anywhere, and it overheats too easily to make playing games possible most of the time, without some sort of cooling underneath. Obviously some laptops struggle with overheating more than others, but in general, the more power you try and cram into a small space, the hotter it will get. On the other hand, the Vita's got a beautiful OLED screen, two analogue sticks, and awesome graphics in a very portable package. Two very different classes of devices, in my opinion. Gaming laptops aren't really mobile gaming devices. They're more like home consoles that are easier to carry and happen to have a battery. You'll still want to be seated in a dark room and take out your mouse to do any gaming. Of course, your decision depends on how much importance you place on power and performance outside of gaming, in which case, the power of a gaming laptop is substantially better than the Vita. The Vita does gaming well, but everything else... Not so much.

It's better than any laptop for gaming till you get to 3 or 4 times it's price.

No, a Vita isn't capable of as many things as a laptop, so I wouldn't consider it worth that much even if it had a decent library.

Obviously the capability for other applications isn't the Vita's strength. Playing games anywhere, anytime is. Not to sound like a Sony advertisement, but despite the relatively sparse lineup of games at the moment, the Vita's still better at playing games on the go. Of course, if you want to be able to take notes, browse the web, get work done, and be able to play games at power outlet, a laptop would be much better. If you ask me, get a mid-range laptop and a Vita. One for work, one for play. It'll come up to roughly the same price as a gaming laptop.

The conveniences of a Vita vs a gaming laptop are obvious. A Vita is for a gamer on the go. Laptops require more boot-up time, and let's face it, a Vita is better for a crowded space like public transit. With everything else I have to carry, a Vita is the way to go... That said, I'll be a PSP gamer for a good while yet. Changes to the Vita will most certainly be coming, as well as better games. The system has no Must-Have games for me yet.

I would say the Vita is better bang for your buck, but first there needs to be better games. I have my vita and after playing Uncharted i'm a little board. Once there are more games then I would say the Vita is well worht it. Gaming labtops have the upper hand with being able to play games at a much lower price and there are tons of games to choose from. The Vita still has some catching up to do, but I think it will catch up.

The Vita has so much potential in this case. If 3rd party developers begin creating titles like Warrior's Lair (diablo-ish clone) then we can start seeing more PC type of games. The touch screen adds so much more to the table in this case. How about some RTS? City-Building titles like the Anon series? etc etc. Endless possibilities.

a laptop isn't really portable, I have to go to work with mine everyday and it's a pain in the butt and my back hurts. Vita is very light and fit in my suit jacket pocket.
