No, but they really ought to have a patch to give torphies to the older titles, it does kind of annoy me if a game doesn't support trophies.

It does add some replayability to a game though, and you can display your trophy progression proudly for all your accomplishments.

I choose games because I want to play them, trophies don't come into it and I find the obsession with them odd to say the least.....I mean you don't actually get anything from it.

You don't get anything from playing video games in general. In the 80s the games had highscores, now there are trophies. That's fine with me and I like collecting them as long as it doesn't get annoying. When people start to put endless hours in something they don't like and call it "working" for trophies then something went wrong. Or trophy boosting. What's the point? And people, stop asking others to heart your levels in Little Big Planet when they obviously suck and you don't deserve it at all! Yeah, I got a little carried away...

Yes it's true but you get enjoyment, the trophies thing is pointless IMO...I mean for example there's games with some really bad bugs (particularly online) and I'd rather they spent time fixing these than wasting their time on stupid trophies.

At least if trophies rewarded you in some way by unlocking things it would be an incentive, but I don't think they do so for me they're a waste of time.

First, you are saying that people don't have fun getting trophies, which in my case i enjoy it a lot..

Second, you are assuming that game developers would use the time to fix the problems.. which look at games through the years with no sort of "goals".. many are still buggy and have major glitches in them, and there is no excuse for it..

I mean look at it this way.. trophies and home have about the same amount of people for and against them.. so why is it trophies has become the scapegoat? home took longer and used more resources.. hell, what about life with playstation or useless features like voice changer..

or is it more on game developers, if so maybe rockstar shouldn't have added a bad online and used the time to fix the single player enjoyment..

you can't just blame trophies because you don't like them.. when there are more reasonable "excuses"..

Each to their own I guess but for me they are pointless. As for the bugs thing, it's very relevant because there's now downloadable content (we didn't have that in the past) and thus bugs can be fixed across the board...the fact they don't is shoddy, but for me the point is they should focus on fixing bugs rather than adding new features.....once their fixed they can add whatever they want.

As for PS Home, never used it and don't think I ever will, I don't mind the idea of interactive things and adding content, but when there's blatant bugs that never get fixed I find it shameful that developers are only interested in this..as it doesn't promote a good user experience.

I'm not blaming trophies btw I just don't see the point of them, but it does bother me that companies add stuff like this and but ignore bugs, in monetary terms it's not logical, for example with the bugs I've discovered in some games it's made me think twice about buying any sequels to these (we're talking sport games here).

the thing is you are assuming that resources are being taken away, through dlc, trophies ect.. i don't believe they are, i think if game developers didn't do dlc or had to do trophies.. they still wouldn't patch the bugs.. i mean huge bugs they would like server problems.. but no way would oblivion be patched to fix the countless exploitable problems.. hell EA and pandemic refuse to patch the problem with mercenaries 2 which has pissed off a great portion of the games players..

i agree that it is sad, but you can't point fingers at dlc, trophies, features ect.. because it is very likely that the problems would still exist no matter what, and still never be fixed.. i know sports games have made me mad, what was it madden 07(?) had that fumbling problem where you had to play with the settings.. that just annoyed me..

No, i play a game that interests me. Trophies are a bonus and something to go back through and get once i've finished the campaign. Only 2 games out of the 11 i own have trophy support.

No, it's an absolutely shallow way to base a purchase on. Some people won't buy Valkyria Chronicles just because it doesn't have trophy support. Also, if someone sates that the reason why they have not played MGS4, is because it has no trophies; I think I'll puke.

Trophies will never make me buy an average game I normally wouldnt, nor would they keep from me not buying a very good game.

But the last 2 games I have bought(dead space and street fighter) have trophies and I have really been enjoying them. They add more replay value for me.
