I was going to use my PS3, but suddely it stop working right. First the menu wasn't showing right and all my games save data were gone. After i keep browsing the menu i found my movies weren't working eather; after pressing X they received a corrupted message.

After all this i tried to repair it using the safemode options to restore settings, rebuild data and even the one to format the harddrive but none of them worked. Now i jus receiving a blue screen telling me: the system setting are damaged press X to restore them. However after i press X the screen stays blank and to turn the PS3 off i need to hold the power button like when restaring.

Here's the screen:

It could be that you just have a bad hard drive. If the system is covered under warranty, have Sony deal with it. If not, take the drive out and test it with a drive utility. If the drive shows any problems, replace it with a new working drive.

I'm not too sure the harddrive is the problem. There's a youtube video of someone that had this problem, he said that he tried using a brand-new drive but didn't worked.

I came across a few claims that this screen is caused by the signal from the PS3 not getting to the tv. Most people advise to 1) Check to see the cables are all in properly and 2) have the right channel on.

Your data was lost/corrupted though, so your situation looks worse than others I've come across.
