does anyone know if the ps3 is region free?

im sorry 2 ask since its probably been asked like a million times, but are ps3 games region free?

i know that the blu-ray movies are region coded but i keep hearing that ps3s will play games from anywhere, is this true? has anyone actually tried importin games? i live in ireland btw so ppl from the uk's opinions will probably be more valued lol thanks :)

PS3 games are indeed region free. I imported the US version of UT3 and it worked fine. I wish I didn't buy it but that's a different topic altogether.

yep indeed, i live in australia and i use ps3 40gb japanese version,(which has different voltage and need to use a voltage converter) ...and i bought it the games local in aust.. ...it worked fine :) some of them imported from europe ;)
