Possible Spoiler ahead if you have not got past the second chapter, Hades.

....

The opening part was insane, perhaps the best boss battle in memory. However, I have just finished the Hades level and, whilst good fun, it was no where near as epic as the start of the game - much more puzzle based. So do things go crazy again, or have I seen the best in the first 10 minutes?

No spoilers please.

God of War series is undoubtedly popular due to it's action gameplay, but it does have an IQ and a brain. Some of its puzzles are the industry's finest. Personally, I liked GOW3's puzzles the most. They're clever and intricate, and very well implemented into the overall level and game design. These puzzles are building blocks. They provide for a bit of downtime to build you up for the EPIC moments in the game. So sit tight and enjoy. It does get better. But that Poseidon boss fight is a hard fight to follow-up.

Yeah, don't get me wrong, the puzzles were good, and the downtime is nice. The actual Hades boss fight is also pretty cool. I dunno, it was just that the opening was so awe inspiring, i don't know how they can top it.

well they had to give it that awe moment, cuz ur playing exactly where gow2 left off. so they had to start the game with a bang, plus in gow 2 they started with that helios statue that zues brought to life. and in gow the hydra, so they always try to go BIG when u start the game. the game does get better but i have to admit the opening was just awesome

Man with that growth if they make a GoW 4 the opening would likely blind people through sheer awesomeness.

spot on. GoW3's puzzles are as bad as Uncharted 2. there's no thinking involved. and i hated it. both their predecessors, Uncharted 1 and GoW2, both had amazing puzzles. i mean, don't tone it down for the dumb people. seriosuly????

I'd say Poseidon is the high point of GoWIII. That's not to say that the rest of the game isn't great, but many of the bosses seem like they could have been much more than they were.

minor spoilers (i guess)

I'm okay with Perseus being killed in passing as it expresses Kratos' power, but Helios and Hermes could have been much more. Helios just lays there as you kill 20 normal enemeis and then quicktime event. Then Hermes runs in circles, does almost no damage, and then quicktime event.

Overall though fantastic game.

To me, nothing topped the beginning. Not even the fight with ***************************************************** SPOILER************************************************************* cronos ************************************************END SPOILER*********************************************************** The rest of the game doesn't even compare with the beginning.

God of War 3 has one of the best opening sequences in recent memory but the game has plenty of more fantastic moments so sit back and enjoy.

Don't worry, they don't top the 10 minutes. Nor do they really try. So I hear.
