It depends on what you want to do with it. If you plan on putting movies and music on there you may want alot but if you just use it for games you wont need as much. Also you can always upgrade latter if you need to.

It really doesn't matter. It's not going to affect your gameplay in any way. Just depends how much you want to store on the system.

You an put a TB of space in it if you want, no effect on gameplay just for vids, songs and pics.

depends, I got a 60GB and I have to keep deleting my game installs to make room for new stuff, though it helped when I got rid of Home

You can replace the HDD with one that has a lot more space than any system sold. You can use a HDD from anyone as long as it's external dimensions are the same as the one that came in the PS3 (which is the same as any laptop).

Sure did matter to me as I have a 40 GB so I have to constantly delete installs and demos to make space for more.

And HDDs are pretty expensive where I live so...

I thought 80GB would be plenty, but after a year I got sick of deleting old stuff to make room for new stuff, so I replaced it with a 500GB drive.

It doesn't make any difference as far as gameplay is concerned - they all play exactly the same. Just more room to put stuff.
