I have been thinking of getting NNK over the last couple of days. would anyone of you who played it recommend it?ziggyww
I would recommend not playing it.

NNK has a giant overworld map that can be used for exploration, grinding, and discovering secret areas and whatnot. The actual dungeons can be a tad linear, but the game is just so much better than FFXIII in every aspect.

I found FFXIII more enjoyable. It's not good by any means, but I thought it had better art, better music, better graphics, better writing, and better gameplay.

It is a game worth playing. The flaws I mentioned are rather small. None of them make Ni No Kuni unbearable, but they can get on your nerves from time to time.
Cheers for the reply I got it on download now :)I think it's a pretty good game, based off of what I have played and what I've seen my girlfriend play in the later stages of the game. The story, graphics, art direction and game play are all pretty fun. But I guess this thread is proof that the game is still really polarizing for some reason. I guess because some people have a different concept of 'good' and 'bad' than other people. Maybe gamers, or people in general, are just never satisfied by anything anymore. I'd kind of like to hear what you think of Ni No Kuni since you've downloaded it. I'm really hoping you're enjoying it.[QUOTE="ziggyww"]I have been thinking of getting NNK over the last couple of days. would anyone of you who played it recommend it?Pffrbt

You know Pffrbt, there is this guy on the Vita forums named Geminon, and I think ya'll would get along just swimmingly...I guess because some people have a different concept of 'good' and 'bad' than other people.
My concept of 'good' involves having a battle system that isn't a clusterf*ck of babysitting idiot AI, doesn't have endless grinding, doesn't have idiotic characters that are almost devoid of personality, and doesn't have completely inappropriate and bombastically loud music.
Maybe gamers, or people in general, are just never satisfied by anything anymore. Ovirew
That's a cop out response and obviously isn't the case.

I don't have a Vita though because there's only two worthwhile games on it.
Honey do you even know anything about JRPG? that is a funny question what can possible made you think that NNK is in FFXIII level? NNK is a complete JRPG with everything that the genre can offer FFXIII is exactly the opposite it is empty theres no gameplay not to mention the other problems involving the story and the linearity the game is an abomination.
Pffrbt Honey what exactly is your purpose here? you let your opinions get the best of you or you want to troll with the others?maybe both? you make your position sound more obvious with every comment your species [trolls] are the only ones that disliked NNK so please cut all that crap no one gives a damn about what you think sorry for the harsh words honey but youre only another ''gamer'' of this new gen, youre insignificant.

I mean I guess you could use the same attacks and take the linear path, but there is always the option to take other routes, side quests and whatnot. You could even turn off the star if you so wanted. The monster-capturing system and ability to take care of the monsters is cool too. I think more so they give options for all types of gamers. You could take a quick easy route or tweak it a little and play it differently to get a more enriching experience.
I can't speak for FFXIII because I never gave it a chance because of all the negative attention. I still was always curious about it, though.
Kingdom of Amalur also has a pointer to tell you where the objective is. Does it make that game a hallway too? Not in the least bit. Same with Darksiders 2, Skyrim, Neir, Sleeping Dogs.....They are all way more open than ff13, so is NNK.
NNK uses the same overworld system as older jrpg games. And the same as Dargonquest 8. You get a boat first and the world opens up a lot. Then you get a airship/flying animal to ride then the whole world becomes your playground......does ff13 also have that in common with NNK?
@happy_dude64: I know plenty of people have already responded to the initial topic and most of them got it right in saying because FF13 was a Final Fantasy title. The reason I'm posting is because I haven't come across any original FF fans who enjoyed FF13 which is why I find it surprising you were able to say you do? This is a genuine enquiry because if you've played the FF's from 1-10 it's incredibly easy to see that FF13 didn't meet the standards that Square once set for themselves. So I guess I'm asking if you've played most of the older Final Fantasies and if so how can you compare FF13 to being as good as any of them?

Yes honey those people give opinions based in futile details to diminish NNK in comparison with FFXIII, trying to make NNK look inferior in the process but the reality based in JRPG elements says otherwise and theres no argument against that i wished these ''gamers'' had some experience about JRPG to use facts and opinions accordingly,if you really want to play a JRPG forget FFXIII honey believe me theres nothing in the game all you can do is run and fight the game is extremely linear.
@ristactionjakso: Honey these people don't even know what they are talking about they need knowledge immediately unless they do that they will never evolve as gamers and will continue to lead their ignorant gaming lifes, also someone have to explain them what the word linear really means these novice gamers are still failing to understand it,in the moment you have more choices in a game in both story and gameplay the game becomes non linear FFXIII gave a new meaning to the word it don't offer you pratically NOTHING the game is extremely linear and that's why it is abominable and hated NNK is exactly the opposite but i constantly see these novice gamers giving cheap excuses to dislike it,makes me wonder if they REALLY want to play a JRPG i can't imagine a gamer adept to JRPG liking a ridiculous game like FFXIII.
