I like Oblivion because it has better immersion, more gameplay options, much better sidequests, more to do, you're not stopping every twenty minutes to adjust your tactics, and the world is actually open. I just felt like I was actually in the world of Tamriel in Oblivion. I felt like a guy staring at a TV in Dragon Age.

A perfect merger would be dragon age's story and characters merged with oblivions world/immersion. For combat...i'm not too sure. dA's combat on PS3 is a little boring and pc it's such a slow pace...always pausing.

I wish an RPG could truly nail down solid combat with upgradable moves and character development...a true action rpg!

dragon age is the superior game. the narrative and characters are much better, with a more involved take on tolkien stylistics and people with believable motivations and interesting relationships. the combat is tactical and more engaging than oblivion's hack n' slashing. DA's leveling is much more practical in that you dont have to avoid using your main talents in order to have a competently developed character.

there are some things that oblivion does better like its scoring and sense of immersion. its also a more ambitious game, which is certainly applaudable. however, dragon age has the results where it counts most and oblivion doesnt.

You ppl want an action rpg & Dragon Age isn't ( or shouldn't be played as ) that. It's a tactical rpg. It looks like Bioware's gonna try to make you happy with DA2 though.

They're both very cheap now.... and with Black Friday around the corner it's a great excuse to pick both of them up.

I've have to go with Oblivion on the sheer number of hours I've put into each game. Not saying DA wasn't good, but there is just so much more you can do in Oblivion.

I thought Oblivion was far superior in almost every aspect. The only thing that was better in Dragon Age was the story. The gameplay in Dragon age made it a pure button masher. To me, that was the turn off of the game. I only got about an hour and a half in and gave up on the game. The gameplay was just too repetitve and boring.

Oblivion's story was awful and the main missions sucked. I never finished the main missions because they were so horrid. The side quests and different guilds you could join was where all the fun was. I particularly loved the Assassins guild missions.

To be honest though, Oblivion while is offered a lot of cool things, it really was not all that fun. I recall spending half a Saturday getting my armor repaired, fixing a sword, bartering with someone for something (can't remember what it was), and running other errands. I realized that I spent half a day doing virtual chores. While realism can add to the quality of a game, it can also add to its demise. All in all Oblvion was ok, but Dragon Age was just horrendeous, IMHO.

An hour and a half in?? Wow. You barely even played it then. You must not have even got out of the castle lol. I'm playing DA:O and the story is amazing. I haven't played Oblivion but it seems too bland to me judging from descriptions and videos.

Dragon Age times infinity.. I honestly can't even consider Oblivion a RPG.. Its a boring adventure game with psuedo RPG elements that really are trivial at best.. Oblivion imo should only be played on the PC simply due to the mods that make the game passable.. The story, dialogue, rpg elements, combat, etc etc is far better in Dragon Age Origins.

The main story is actually quite dry.. But the character dialogue, mini quests, and overall background is real good.. The overall story it self isn't bad, its just not really amazing.. Mass Effect 2 had this same problem, where you instantly knew what the final objective of the game within the first half hour to hour of the game.. Mass Effect 1 at least had some big twists that changed the game..
