I still can't beat the dragon. Once I managed to whittle his health down to the last two bars before getting stomped and I haven't been able to summon the will to slog through another tortuous, drawn-out battle of attrition. Which is s shame because I hear that the ending is rather special.
Is there any way to hire some different pawns? I'm surprised... I really didn't have that much trouble with the fightI still can't beat the dragon. Thanks to the one slot save system I think I'm at the point of no return. There doesn't seem to be any way to leave the fight to go and level up/hire new pawns/stock up on healing items. The bow and daggers that have seen me tear through just about everything the game has to offer now seem to be about as much use as plastic cutlery when used against the dragon, meaning that the fight turns into a long, long test of patience where a single lapse of concentration sees 45 minutes' work go down the drain.
It is a great looking fight, though. And I do like to listen to the dragon monologuing.
