Has anyone else noticed their R2 and L2 triggers feeling a little spongier than they were before? I had an R2 on one and an L2 on another go DS3 spongey one day. I didn't notice when it happened, but when I picked it up, the triggers just didn't have the spring that they used to. Turns out the tiny little springs that return the trigger all the way out had broken right in the center where the little "o" middle joint is. Like this: \o/ I've got a bunch of extra sixaxis controllers, so I just scavenged one for parts and replaced them on each controller, but has this happened to anyone else? One controller was a launch Japanese DS3, the other was a newer US model.

Was there any clicking sound coming from the controller before it broke? I returned a DS3 that I bought with mgs4 and I only had it for a couple weeks. R2 started making this clicking sound when I compressed it and the stick was making a noise when I moved it. It wasn't that loud but it wasn't there when I bought it so I didn't want to take any chances.

I've only had mine since MGS4 launch and I don't play my PS3 that much, but they're okay.

Yes, I just dismantled my DS3 cause of my R2 not returning all the way, making it activate just by grazing the button. I discovered that one of the "legs" on the spring had broke just when it turned in to the o. I guess I'll steal the spring from my non-DualShock Sixaxis and buy a new DS3.

Yes that happened to me. I (painstakingly) took apart my hong kong model silver DS3 to fix it. I absentmindedly took the whole thing apart, but I figured out that all that is necessary is to take the back off. I replaced it with a little pen spring that I bent into shape, but it doesn't work quite as nicely, since the spring now has kinks in it from me bending it in a hurry. Know anywhere to buy tiny springs?

Mine are worse, they are still springy, but they keep getting stuck, sometimes so badly, I need to take apart my controller just to get them out. The one thing I dont like about the PS3 controllers are the L2 and R2 buttons, they should be thinner and more trigger like, like the 360 controllers have.

Yeah, my L2 button started failing on me yesterday. It just doesn't return all of the way anymore. Sucks when I'm playing inFAMOUS because sometimes Cole will start draining electricity (hold L2) from a source while I'm in a fight, which is, as you can imagine, quite frustrating.:(

Time to repair it.

Both of mine are still in mint condition. Seems like this isn't that rare of an issue though. I'd better treat them nicely! :o

i think the R2 and L2 triggers pretty much suck overall, they seem weak, one thing that is better on the 360 is definetely the triggers, they feel more solid and reliable, but i like the feel of the ps3 controller

happened to me with my DS3 controller, i managed to put a little square of foam between the little bar which keeps the sping in place. It works but i have to press down a little harder.
