I need a game that will take me awhile, and keep me occupied for a very long period of time. Just gonna give a heads up, I'm not really into the whole achievement and collecting thing. Oh, and try and have it below 20$, because I'm a bit strapped for cash.

final fantasy 13? gran turismo 5? tes: oblivion? any kingdom hearts title, nay any RPG title should eat up your time and cause you to rot slowly. as for the 20 dollar budget, i wouldn't fret one bit, since you can pick up almost any pre-owned game for around that price.

Angry Birds is an option, it has hundreds of puzzles and its only $3.99.

You could try a sports game, NHL 11 is around $15.00 and you could play an 82 game season.

Games I like well under $20:

  • Alone in the Dark: Inferno
  • Dark Void
  • Dark Sector
  • Iron Man
  • Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising (get through it on Hardcore, that should take well through 2014)
  • RUSE
  • Tom Clancy's EndWar

The Dragon Age games will eat up a lot of your time, and the story is enjoyable too. The second one isn't as good as the first one, but they're both worth playing.

Oblivion, Just Cause 2, Red Dead Redemption (at Gamestop used it's a lot cheaper than getting it new), Mass Effect 2, and Demon's Souls

if you like sports games, they can eat up a ton of time. i personally like the NHL line. if you don't care about the rosters, you can get one a couple years old for really cheap.

If you decide on an HD collection I'd say go for the prince of persia one. The 2nd game alone is worth it, but all of them are very good games. They're all good length games, but the 1st is noticably shorter but still pretty good.

One play through of Mass Effect 2 can be around 20 hours.. But you will probably want to play it more than once. I own RF:G but haven't beaten it, so I'm not sure how long it is... Dead Island has been having a lot of sales recently, and is long.. Lots of other good recommendations in here too.

White Knight Chronicles 1+2, Tales of Vesperia, Star Ocean 4, L.A. Noire and Grand Theft Auto 4 all have fairly long single player campaigns.

It's far from unplayable though, and an excellent experience nonetheless.

MAG (online only FPS, less than $20)

Dragon Age : Origins + Awakening complete collection (about $20 on Amazon)

Both of these will suck down massive chunks of your time thru a straw.

The best thing is if you have a core library of say 20 really good games, you can keep replaying them and do alternate endings, online multiplayer, co-op, horde mode, etc etc.

That 20 games will literally last you a decade.

I've played GTA so much I can recite the whole game verbatim and know the streets without GPS.

RDR also, is capable of sucking down thousands of hours.

Borderlands.

Oblivion. Massive time sink.

Forgot one. Alpha Protocol. The multiple builds means you can replay that sucker hundreds of times for 30-40 hours each.

Oblivion Game of the year edition will eat up at lot of time. If you don't mind red case greatest hits games on Playstation 3. It is currently $19.99 at best buy.

You expressed interest in Mass Effect 2. Excellent choice. My personal favorite game this generation and a complete playthrough can take you up to 40 hours. Lots of replay value too.

Also, Dragon Age: Origins. Extremely time consuming, and it's only $20. Fallout 3 or New Vegas are also good alternatives, both $20 as well.

White Knight Chronicles II? Well, maybe it's just me who feels it's an underrated game, but i find it pretty good, not for the story but the gameplay. Problem is that takes like 60-80 hours till you finish the story and you actually have enough level to play online with guys at the same level as you. But once you do you'll find that there more you play it, the more there is to do in the game.

Disgaea 3 and 4 are pretty good and time eaters too.

Ok so I'm really considering Borderlands and possibly White Knight Chronicles 2. But the problem with White Knight Chronicles is that the combat system is similar to games like Final Fantasy 12, in which you pick your action, but you still have to wait, which is why I sold the game.

What about shooters? Anyone got any suggestions? Besides Call of Duty, I've got Cod4, and played both WaW and Mw2, which were both bad in my opinion.

Oh, some other suggestions I would love to see are some zombie games. Not too sure about Dead Island, only because it gets really gun heavy farther into the game.

Oh, I need to add one more thing....

SIDEQUESTS! I'm really big on sidequests being a part of a game's "length factor" (I guess you could say that...).

It'd be nice to have a number or estimate at least, also no downloadable content. This means that I'll have to spend more money, and I'm a very cheap person.
