Well, you can look at peoples stats like how many kills, medals, etc etc. There's no "This guyz the bestz on this server." Gamerscore is kind of a waste...
I recently watched some videos of Resistance and that game had skill points, is that just for Resistance or for all PS3 games?blind_tousen
currently just resistance, but i'm pretty sure they'll make it for all games. there is a total skill point score, but that's just for RFOM, there's no general total gamerscore for your entire account
Skill Points are an Insomniac convention used throughout the Ratchet & Clank series for unlocking things and have bee carried over the same way in Resistence.
There is no equivilent to GamerScore and it's not really the sort of thing you can add after the fact unless they plan on asking all their partners to revise all of their old games. The PS3 doesn't even track a user's game list so there is no browsing a PSN ID.
What Sony is doing is offering a "trophies" system implemeted through the new standalone Home program where, if your friend is online, they can invite you to their Home and show you the trophies they've acquried, and you can do the same. This is not, however, a required feature for developers (at least not right now).

Sounds like your jealous cuz you don't have one. It doesn't force anyone to do anything. If I get a higher score playing through the game, cool, if not no big, not gonna drive myself crazy to get some insane score.

Absolute rubbish. Gamerscore has helped me rediscover gaming, and i've played a whole lot more than i would without it

Gamerscore has helped me rediscover gaming, and i've played a whole lot more than i would without it I like the idea of achievements, but the summing of them into a gamer score doesn't really make sense. For example, 10 points for beating PD0, but you get 200 points for sinking 10 3s in a basketball game? There's no balance.
