I have my PS3 in a location 65 feet from my modem. I wanna have my PS3 connected to the internet but i can't find any 100 foot ethernet cables. I found this networking cable http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0665000FS10077536&catid=10494 that is 100 feet long. I was wondering if anyone knew whether this would work with my PS3 or if it only works for PC hookups. Thanks to whoever answers.

That's way overpriced. It'll work, but don't do it. For that price you could almost buy a wireless router. In fact, that would be a better plan if you are willing to spend around $100 to $150, but you get a 75 foot CAT 6 cable from monoprice.com for $11 and a 100 foot for $14. For example, scroll down this page to the 75foot and 100 foot cables.

another option is to go to an electronics store, not the big box consumer electronics stores like Best Buy or Circuit City, but one of those hobby type places that sells basic computer and electronics components. 100 foot cables will be a little more expensive there than at monoprice.com, but still way less than the one at that first link you posted.

i just have a couple questions about monoprice.com. If u know the answers i'd appreaciate it. First, i see that they are located in California. Do they ship to Canada?. Second, have u ever bought from them? Are they a reputable company? And third, i'm just double checking that networking cables WILL work with my PS3 to my modem. Thanks for any answers u might be able to give.

I have not bought from monoprice.com but it is a favorite of many people on this forum and I will be buying from them in the future.

Yes, they ship to Canada. This is what it says in the shopping cart section for calculating shipping costs:

*Enter your 5-digit ZipCode and select a shipping option to determine your shipping cost. (Ex. 91730)
(For Canada customer, type your 6-letter postal code without any space, Ex. R4T5E6.

Yes, the PS3 has the exact same type of ethernet port that your computer has. It uses an RJ45 terminated ethernet cable. It's a gigabit port, so you need a CAT 6 ethernet cable.

The PS3 also has a wireless NIC, so if you buy a wireless router to connect to your cable or DSL modem, you won't need the long ethernet cable.
