Honestly, MGS4 didn't impress me in the visual department. A lot of the environments had muddy washed-out textures, and some of the characters had looked like they were caked in vaseline. Uncharted actually impresses me more. Better textures, lighting, animations, etc.

Uncharted and MGS4 by far have the best looking graphics out there to date. if u want to see something amazing though, check out heavy rain. if thats in game like they have said (which has been a hit and miss) then we r in for a shock. both of those games were really good though.

MGS4 leaves a lasting impression... it's so well-crafted that other games flaws do tend to stand out a little more...

No doubt MGS4 has outstanding visuals, especially in HD.

Uncharted can match graphics from MGS4, but it lacks of a living environment, like plants, won't move if you step on them on uncharted

MGS games always spoil me too much and its not just with the graphics. Every time I play a new MGS title for the next year I will find myself trying to compare every game I play to it. I remember after MGS3, trying to play games like Oddworld Strangers Wrath, or Resident Evil 4 and thinking they were lame as hell. Luckily I went back later and enjoyed those games for how great they really were, but yeah MGS games do tend to overshadow the competition.

I didn't realize how great the visuals where on MGS4 until my 2nd play through after I had my HDTV calibrated. It was such a big difference.

well in PS3 yes. and i dont think uncharted can match it because its more plastic-like than i thought ( especially in characters ). yea sure visuals are fresh, lively and great but still, in details its not that great compared to MGS4. but if you compare MGS4 to all games, it cant be compared to Crysis on PC.

what is the greatest in MGS4 is gameplay, its really improved ALOT.

For me, Uncharted actually outshined GS4 in the graphics department. Also, Snakes animations looked so rigid and forced...it just looked unnatural. Curse you, Uncharted for your awesome layered animations!

MGS4 is the only game that'll leave a huge impact on you after you finish it , you'll remember the game even when you reach 50+ years old.

The Metal Gear saga overall left a HUGE impact on many gamers and game developers. Devs take notes after each Masterpiece Hideo Kojima releases. It's the reference that game developers rely on whenever they want to create their own games. Metal Gear introduced stealth and changed 3rd person adventure/action games in many many ways. Cover system, crouching, crawling, 3rd person view to First Person view, high quality voice acting, Hollywood-like cutscenes and a storyline that many Hollywood directors failed to reach in terms of deepness and details with mind blowing twists. Boss fights that broke Guinness World Records awarding the game for the "Most Innovative Use of a Video Game Controller" for the boss fight with Psycho Mantis. Metal Gear saga is the ultimate form of perfection and it will be long before a game series would surpass it. Hideo Kojima, Metal Gear and japanese brain drains FTW!

Epic , Great first post dude! and yes , i totally agree...i think it will be a really really long time before something surpass the MGS series and maybe nothing will...the characters , dialogue , music ...all just so perfect and beautiful.

Yeah MGS4 looks good, but it's not the best looking game ever.

The Mei Ling character model in MGS4 is stupid and gangly, as is the Rose model, the Raiden model, the Meryl model (in her wedding dress).

It's incredibly cinematic, but everything looking crappy after it?

I get my eye candy from WipEout HD.
