I am going to get Fallout 3 and Oblivion but not sure for what system. I prefer playing on my PS3 but the PC version has mods and is cheaper. The thing that will make me decide is where will it look better. On my PC I can only run it with everything on the lowest setting but with resolution 1920x1080 (my native resolution). I also heard that PS3 version has many bugs and glitches. Is it true?So where would it look better?

Well you are asking a PS3 Forum... and Fallout 3 isn't that bad on the PS3, just don't get the GOTY edition unless you can handle it freezing every 20 minutes. And it would obviously "look" better on the PC, so whatever you want to do really.

Are you sure it would look better on PC? Because like I said I can only play it on the lowest settings but with the highest resolution...

So the GOTY Edition on the PS3 is worst then the normal one?

The minimum settings would probably play like ass, so I'd probably get the PS3 version. You may want to head over to the PC board, though.

Does it really freeze every 20 minutes? I was planning on getting it.

If you're going to be running it on the lowest settings on the PC, it will be barely playable and will look utterly abysmal. You might as well get it on the PS3.

The GOTY version of Fallout 3 is very glitchy and will freeze randomly especially in the wasteland. The only solution is to watch the HDD light on the PS3 blink. If it doesn't blink for more than 30 seconds, you will have to reboot. I recommend you get them both for PC since they look OMGorgeousSexy and you can use really cool mods (look up on Youtube to see the coolness)

I'd go with PC just because of all the mods available.

Since you don't have a good gaming PC then get them for PS3. I have both for PS3 and bot game of the year editions, I haven't had any problems with either one. Only Fallout 3 froze once but I haven't gotten very far in it yet. I heard it's only in certain areas where it freezes. Mostly in the DLC areas?

If you really want the mods, i think you should go for the PC version. If the mods are not so important to you, i think its better to get it for the PS3 if you gonna run it on lower setting anyway.

normally, id recommend them for the pc because thats their native platform and they will look and play better as well as have mods to touch up oblivion's bland art direction. however, the ps3 is the better choice if you can only play them on the lowest settings. one thing id note though is that id recommend that you avoid fallout 3 goty edition and instead look for the original edition to get a smoother play experience. there will be less bugs and the dlc isnt that great to begin with.

I can run it on the lowest settings but resolution on my PC is higher then the one on PS3. PS3 usually has the resolution 1280x720 but my PC has 1920x1080. So I am still not sure where it would look better.

So, why don't you knock the resolution down a bit and push up the other options? I don't run most new games at the native resolution so I can up everything else and put on AAx4 or more. It winds up looking better and running better than just using the native resolution and nothing else. Even the medium range resolutions will be higher than the PS3 version...

Oblivion and Fallout 3 were unplayable for me until the modding community fixed all the terrible design issues Bethesda went with due to catering to consoles. I can't even fathom playing their games without extensive modding.

The frame rate will be awful, it will probably be laggy, it would probably be prone to freezing, it just wouldn't be worth playing on the lowest settings.

No,its never frozen on me. My biggest gripe is the inconsistent frame rate TBH.

Well this are my specs:

CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo CPU E7400 @ 2.80 GHz

CPU Speed: 2.80 GHz Performance Rated at 5.04 GHz

RAM: 3.5 GB

OS: Microsoft Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3 (build 2600)

Video Card: GeForce 9500 GT

DirectX version: 9.0c

Sound Card: Realtek High Definition Audio

And like I said my native resolution is 1920x1080 and it looks weird if I dont play with this resolution.

Now where would it look better?

You're on the wrong board - and PC by a long shot if it can run them.

The mods make Oblivion awesome so PC is the obvious choice and I haven't seen Fallout 3 on PS3 so can't comment on that.

The 9500 GT won't be able to make it look as good as PS3 version, for neither Fallout 3 nor Oblivion.

Unless you upgrade your video card, I do recommend PS3 versions of both games. You could lower your monitor resolution and it will give you playable frame rates if you don't mind the visual downsizing.
