Love both of these games but why are they classified as RPG's? I'm fiending for a good RPG which to me means a large world with lot's of exploring to do, level grinding, and random encounters. I can't seem to find a good RPG for PS3, are there any suggestions? I thought I was getting one when I picked up Valkyria Chronicles only to be dissapointed (not that it's a bad game I love it, but because I was expecting something else). I never expected Fallout 3 to be one, though, I don't know what people are thinking calling that a RPG.. I'm posting this because all of the suggestion threads for RPG's list games that I wouldn't consider to be RPG's.
Fallout 3 is absolutely an RPG. Why don't you consider it an RPG? Everything is there for it to be classified as an RPG. Massive exploration, dialogue choices, leveling, equipment customization, skills, etc. That's an RPG to me.
Valkyria Chronicles is definitely more of a strategy game, but it's my favorite game on the PS3 and I still consider it an RPG to a degree.
As for what you're looking for, Enchanted Arms is your best best, but that's awesomely mediocre. Perhaps wait for Cross Edge in a couple weeks also.
Fallout 3 has all those things you listed that an RPG should have. :|
like Yokofox said you could try Enchanted Arms. It has it's flaws, but It's an ok game as long as you don't take it too seriously. if Fallout and VC were'nt what you expected it's worth checking out some videos and player reviews, since you may like it. the only others I can think of are Eternal Sonata or Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion...
I guess I just like old-school style because I don't consider Fallout 3 to be an RPG at all. I love the game and I never expected it to be an RPG only to find out that it was considered to be one later on here. And I read about Valkyria Chronicles and thought it was going to be but after watching videos I almost didn't buy it.... But it was cheap at Gamestop and I'm glad I did buy it because it's really great, just not an RPG..... IMO Oh, and I guess Oblivion is an RPG just not my style... Still fun though... Kind of seems like fantasy action adventure to me... Games like Final Fantasy, Golden Sun, and Legend of Dragoon are what I consider RPG. Just my opinion, not trying to make arguments..

Fallout 3 is the best RPG on the PS3 right now, Oblivion is just as good (same company), Dragon Age may be good
but judging be the list of games you consider to be RPGs, you like turn based? well thats what valkyria chronicles is

I never said Fallout 3 wasn't an RPG because it doesn't have swords and magic... I'm saying it's not an RPG because of its GAMEPLAY. FFX is an RPG, I think everyone would agree. Take away swords and give the characters guns? Still an RPG...... Give all the wastelanders and vault dwellers swords, magic, and summons? Still NOT an RPG. And Valkyria Chronicles is kind of an RPG... But not really..
