fallout has nothing on oblivion oblivion is just so massive and so much you can do, fallout rly youre only limited to the map the quests there are and what affinity you are, doesnt even have a real item creating except for weapons blivion ftw :D
Fallout 3....... I gave Oblivion/Dragon Age a shot, but was turned off by the "swords/magic" play. I have seen gameplay videos before purchase, but I was desparately seeking to add variety to my collection of mostly shooters/sports titles. I enjoyed Fallout 3/Mass Effect(360) because of it's shooting elements.
Only thing I hate about Oblivion is "the psychic cop system".
Despite consequences for actions in Fallout 3. I can pretty much, "do whatever I want". Especially in a world that isn't running on "tracking technologies". That is where Oblivion seems to run short on. Despite lacking any kind of modern technology at all. The whole land knows if you stole a book in some secluded spot:lol:

As you see, It's all a question of taste. I, for one, absolutely loved Fallout 3 and thought Oblivion was great but not as engaging or immersive. Still great, I might buy it back one of these days.
It's a really personal thing. Old VS new, I personally always stop playing Oblivion every ~10 hours and then don't play it for weeks untill I pick it up again, but FO3 I finished in a few days and I had a blast. But that's because the setting and VATS system both appeal to me much more.
Oblivion is just way more epic to me, they ruined Fallouts atmosphere with the dlc and its a typical end of world story where everyone survives and everyones ok
I've played both, and I liked them both but I just couldnt relate to oblivion the same way as I could with fallout, I mean yeah they are the same game but it was harder to understand how one weapon was better than the other, with fallout i understood everything easier and the plot was better IMO
it's gota be fallout 3 for the realistic vue of the future, but istill like the way oblivion has a place to live and an extra life in harmony with the people of cyrodil
Fallout 3. It has a more interesting world with more genuine interaction within it, better quests with multiple approaches, much more enjoyable combat and a vastly superior levelling system. It was overall just a better designed game IMO.
Really tough decision. They're my second and third favorite games of all time. I guess I like Oblivion better. Fallout 3 was amazing and I like the added guns, perks, gore, karmic decisions, and that there was no longer just generic caves on the map. But overall I just think I spent more time, became more addicted to, and overall enjoyed Oblivion more.
Oblivion. I can play through Fallout 3 1-2 times and be done with it forever, while I can play Oblivion over and over. There's just way more to do in that game. Also, Fallout 3 is over the top buggy.
Oblivion, I haven't played much of Fallout 3, but I still know that I like Oblivion much more, medieval fantasy setting ftw... Still I need to get to it sometime.
