But they love money, and people would basically throw wads of cash at them in exchange for a FFVII remake. That's why I'm sure this project will see the light of day sometime this gen.

exactly what I was thinking 

I think S-E will learn what the PS3 is capable of with FF13 then make a FF7 remake after they have had some experiance with the system. Alot of the FF games have had slight updates/re-releases. I think FF6 is next in line to be polished up, probably on PSP.

Then FF7 will get the full treatment. 

I'd rather see a full-blown remake of FFVI. I really think more people need to experience the game that laid the framework for FFVII and beyond.

seriously, i'm pretty sure that they would tell everyone in the world if they were going to be releasing one of the most popular games of all time in about what...7 months? There is no way that they wouldn't have said it. And be real, they probably have the game finished, they are just waiting until their stock might drop a little then BAM FF7 remake to bring them back on top.

They aren't dumb, it's their ACE in the HOLE, they will wait until they have no other option. I promise you if it's not finished already, it's pretty darn close to being finished, and they are just holding on to it.

LOL. Why is this still being even aknowledged at all? I mean this has to be one of the longest ongoing rumors on this on the net. UNLESS WE GET OFFICIAL WORD FROM SQUAREENIX OF THIS GAME...FORGET ABOUT IT!

I'm anti-remake. I'm playing it again for the first time in years. Just got Vincent...Advent Children was cool, but there is something about the old one. You don't need to remake a 5-Star perfect 10 game just to please the kids with better graphics. This will also probably launch a old-school, new-school, fanboy war. "The new version r0x0rs hard n00b!"

With the rate they've been putting out remakes, it's a possibility. I and II have been released three or four times apiece already, III came out on DS two or three years ago, IV has already been announced for DS... they're also remaking a bunch of the Dragon Quest games (specifically, IV, V and VI) for release in Japan -- hopefully US too, but it hasn't been announced. They've publicly acknowledged the demand for a FF7 remake and haven't ruled it out, though said it isn't in the works right now... but seriously, this is a company that obviously sees the value of putting out remade classics. It's easy money.

I wouldn't rule out a remake of ANY SE property, to be honest.
