Slightly less jagged using the new smoothing option but that's about it.

I tried it today and it looked awesome. Not as good as the newer games but none the less, great. Like the other guy said, the smoothing option helped a lot. This update is great.

I forgot to mention that I was running on 1080p over HDMI. FFX was far from mindblowingly different, but none the less, pretty cool.

I was running it on 1080i HD.. looks greats.. I'd say it looks pretty much the same as if you where playing it on a PS2 on an SD... but with alot less jags cause of the smoothing and big screen.. Seems to fit a wide screen very well.

Why you asking so many questions if you don't have a PS3? You wanna know what pajamas I'm wearing how about what beer I'm drinking?

Yeah the 1/2 inch black side bars are part of the games inage, its SD overscan compensation all last generation games have these black bars. The only way is the use pan san on your TV or use zoom setting. I thought Sony would have addressed this by adding a SD overscan zoom feature on this update but I guess they haven't. What you need to do is take the image and stretch it out by 1/2 inch on both sides, lets hope the next update will address this.

I'd assume it looks great

I tried San Andreas, and the colours were astounding, the detail is far sharper, and it really is different. B3 is also looking good (but then it looks good on any TV)

hell, even the original Gran Turismo looks great
