FIFA 09 vs. PES 2009

Hello everybody

a week ago I've bought ps3 , and I'm really happy with it , but that doesn't apply for the games prices :( , they are really expensive , and u have to think thrice before u buy a game , when a game costs 100$!!

I currently own 3 games , Motorstorm : Pacific Rift + Killzone 2 + PES 2009 (I'm a big soccer fan btw).

anyway , pes is really cool , and I'm quit happy with it , but I hear from a lot of people that FIFA 09 on ps3 is somehow better than PES 2009 (tricks , gameplay , graphics....) , and that's confusing me and frustrating me aswell , I paid 80$ for PES ,and now there's a sale on FIFA 09 for ps3 , it's available for 47$ , and I dunno what to do :(

should I go for FIFA 09 and leave pes on the shelf , or what? can u please guys give me a heads up , for those who played both of them , or at least plays fifa 09

Technically FIFA 09 is better. If you are looking for more strategy in game style then FIFA is your game. Also the kits and player and club names are correct.

However, I prefer PES 09 because I find that it is more fun. I would stick with Pro Evo if I was you. :)

There is something on the web browser called the PS3 game reviews or type it up on google, you'll find it. Amazingly Gamespot provides a search engine which not only shows you the game but tells you the latest news surrounding it, theirs and our reviews on that game as well as a seperate forum just for that game for people's opinions and problems.

FIFA 09 on ps3 is certainly better than PES 09

hey man,I am very big fan of pes but this year I got fifa 09 and it was alot of better than pes 2009.

2nd if u lookeing forward to get fifa 09 then ,here is my advice for u ,fifa 2010 advertisments will be comeing soon after couple of months ,bec soccer seasons are ending up soon this year,so dont get fifa 09 cause it just a waste of money ,play pes 2009 now and when the new fifa 2010 release make ur choice between pes 2010 and fifa 2010.

3rd if ur country doesnt have a ps store (not a big deal) ,just change ur country to usa or what ever u want and the store of the country that u choose will work and will allow u to download demo games.

anyway , I've had this little problem with pes 2009, sometimes I press certain buttons but it doesn't make an action , eg , many times I attach with the ball , I passed the defenders now and I want to shoot , I press the SQUARE button , but nothing happens!

also sometimes I try to pass the ball , triangle or X , doesn't work! :(

what could be the problem?

I don't have PES but I do have FIFA so can give you my opinion on that. The game itself is OK but the controls are just a bit too complicated and pulling off the special moves is near impossible in a match situation. The Online play will tend to draw you in more because even though that AI is OK it's still feels robotic to me.

That's where is really falls down though, online its' incredibly frustrating, players don't respond to pressing of buttons sometimes, there's a terrible lag in terms of response time to button presses and the horrible AI really hinders the game and constantly leads to you conceding goals.

A terribly indictment is the fact the Online play is so poor as a whole package that it's actually made me hate the game, you can quite often see really high scorelines as well like the old days of FIFA so it's not realistic at all! In short it's full of bugs which never get fixed...very shoddy IMO considering you can dowload patches now!

Personally I'd avoid it as it's a load of overhyped rubbish to be honest and not realistic at all.

btw , I very rarely play against the ps3 itself , so Al doesn't play a role , always against my brothers or friend ....

fifa 09 is wayyy better than pes 09 and ive played maybe about 300 games online and i never have problems with controls not reacting when they are pressed so i dunno what this guys talking about. Maybe his controller is busted. I rarely ever experience a game with little ag much less one with a lot.

But yeah just wait for the 2010 versions and decide. Im killing my self for nba 2k9 because live is now sucking to me and im playing the 2k9 demo more than my live 09 copy but ive decided to just wait as it wouldnt make sense to waste 40 on it when that could always go to another game.

I've never played PES, but FIFA is loads of fun especially after you master the controls.

You must be lucky then, my friend has it and gets the same problems....players running away from the ball, highlighting the right player is near impossible sometimes the AI often switches it for you at stupid times leading to goals (or and at free kicks it's really hard to highlight anyone not in the wall).

The goalkeeping is also comical at times with keepers punching when they can easily catch and constantly palming the ball into the opponents past. Sliding tackles are also pointless as you always get punished for them, as for the refereeing it's a complete joke.....one minute you get a players sent off for taking someone out when you're the last man the next your opponent does the same and doesn't even get a card!

As for players not responding, whenever a player cuts in and passes into the penalty area it's almost impossible to stop, even when you try and preempt it it won't allow you to make the covering run you need.

Oh and what about the way the forwards always check when you pass and they're clean through thus giving the opposition time to get back! I've played online so many times and yet it keeps doing the same thing over and over again, your keeper won't even rush out when you tell him to sometimes! And what about the biastness towards the like of Man U, they seem to get all the rebounds especially Rooney and Ronaldo, even when you tackle them and win the ball and the fall over they often get up and get to the ball before you're player (who won the tackle get's to the ball).

I'm actually so sick of these bugs it's untrue!

Fifa hands down.
