if there's gonna be a remake, FF7 should go first... especially for the younger generation who weren't able to play it or passed over it coz of poor graphics compared to next-gen games. but should this classic greats be touched again, or better if developers realize new ideas... this issue has a lot of pros and cons...

uh... FF8 sucked.... hard. the story made absolutely no sense at all. especially when you started adding Laguna to the mix...

These lame remake threads seriously need to be banned. Also, why would they do a ff8 remake when graphically wise it was better than 7? Jesus christ, guy. Go play ff8 it's a greatest hits.
FF6 and 7 , many hard core rpg players say ff6 was great in terms of story and gameplay,i only played ff7 but if they did it in order first 6 then 7, but I bet ff6 going DS a poor graphic remake,ff7 ps3 :D
the reason for remakes is mainly to update the graphics which gives you a good reason replay an old game you used to love.Dreadedsniper
what do you mean "used to love"? incorrect. I STILL love the classics and I always will. Some games don't need a fresh coat of paint. FF VII and VIII fall into this category. Besides, you ever hear the phrase "if it's not broke don't fix it"?....
I'm with the poster. I would actually like to see a ff8 remake more than 7. don't get me wrong i liked seven i just hated the way they ended the game. Then after playing crisis core i found that i didn't really care for cloud. He seemed weak. Anyway ff8 was a classic with a great story, the only thing that was difficult was the fact that the monsters leveled up with you. It was easily my favorite ff game.

why waste time and money in games that already exist just for the sake of revamped graphics? Sony should put them up on psn and let people discover them as they were. If a game is truly timeless it will please the fans and newcomers alike, that's what classics do. Remakes should be saved for games that had good ideas and poor execution, something that can be fixed - or not lol - with the help of the current gen of consoles.
In the end ALL of them will be remade. It's just a simple question of when? It'll probally take just as long for VIII and all the games beyond, as it did for the original I-VI to be remade or ported. I personally would love to see Square Enix make a FFVII for PSP. No, that doesn't mean I don't want to see it all jazzed up for the PS3 either. Rather a straight PSP port with a few touch ups and then a full fledged update to FFVII on the PS3. Also I am a fan of the French/Japanese fusion of FFVIII's design. The characters would of benefited more from voice acting had it been more advanced back then to do so.
I agree with you completely. I think ff8 is the best ff ever. I didn't like 7, I don't know why everyone loves the story it's okay. It's overly hyped because it was the first final fantasy in 3d.
They would have to redo the whole turn based system for todays market. With all the junctioning and drawing along with the GF equpping, SE would need to retool that game to an extreme length. It would be cool for it be redone, but SE won't. It would be cool if they at least put out 7-9 again, since they did the others about 3 times each almost.
it would be a great idea, BUT FFVII graphically wasso awful that i would choose its remake over any modern FF remakes..... so sorry FFVII remake still on the top of the most wanted FF remakes.
Definitely. I'd like to see them both remade - its hard to get a working copy of FFVII-VIII (talking from experience - i have two copy's of VIII and one VII and my teenage hands have officially screwed them over) and people are missing out on them. I wouldn't mind that making VII first, as long as they did remake VIII. Surely it would not take as long to remake them? Its not as if you need to make a new story or battle system...
Obviously there are millions more ff7 fans (big ff7 fan myself) it just isnt logical.. i mean come on now considering that why put the time in effort into remaking 8. when 7 would be much more profitable. 7 just destroys 8 in storyline characters the whole bit. this is my opinion. i most likely wont purchase a copy of the remake of 8 as it did no appeal to me originally. i played it beat it thats all fine and good but i wouldnt want to do it again id play ff7 again for sure beat that game countless times still keeps me entertained..
