First let me say, sorry for yet another thread about this game. Some people have been getting anoyed with these type of threads, like myself. This question i have though, i can't get any other answers from anywhere else but here. So this is my question. Will i need to buy a strategy guide for this game, i'm going to be buying it this week. I was just making sure if i should pick up the guide with it, and if it's really neccasary. This question is morely pointed towards the people who are experinced in FFT, people who played alot of the it, and most of it on the PS1. And another question, is this game really hard to learn how to play? I hear alot how it's very difficult for players just to pick it up, i've never really played a game like tatics. I've only played Final Fantasy Tatics Advance for the GBA, which i found new to learn to play but easy to learn. Is it any harder then that? Because i don't want to go buy a watered-down version of the game, all i want to know can i just buy it and learn how to play it while i progress with the game itself? I do seem to pick up on things quite easly, and fast on RPGs like this.

Please, and Thank you for whom ever answers my questions.

IF you played FFTA for GBA its a start. I bought the strategy guide for it, and I think its absolutely necessary for this game. Never played FFT, but can see that I'll be playing this game a lot. Already have 8 hours in it and am having fun unlocking the new classes and stuff. The guide explains some of the games complex mechanics, and I highly recommend buying both the game and the guide. You will not be disappointed.

"I" have a question actually, is it worth getting the guide if already have the old School Prima official guide for the PSX version? :D

I paged through it at best buy and I saw a few things that made me thing i might want it, as it seemed like some things were a little different (and of course the main reason i buy the guide since i could get most of the info on Gamefaqs, is that it has some nice art and is well put together).

i think for the most part, if your new to the game(ie. coming from playing FTTA) a strategy guided is very helpful, not absolutley needed of course but extremly help ful. i too was a huge FTTA fan, its way different, learning various jobs, skills etc. I would highly recommend buying a guide, but im just using the Gamespot faqs/tips so far.

eh your asking if the game is good im assuming. yeah its really good, if your new to the FFT/FTTA series it will be very overwhelming at the start, but youll pick up everything you need to learn with in the first 3 to 4 hours, with the help of various free guides on gamefaqs/gamespot. Overall though if you like strategy games, this is as good as it gets, good story, addicting gameplay, you won't be dissappointed.

text font too small.... can't see.... going blind.... eyes bleeding..... ahhhhh....

The game has a built in tutoral with lots of instruction and reading that explains just about everything. And besides that, there's always gamefaqs.com. I wouldn't waste money on a strategy guide.

Alright here is what I thought about FFTA and the new FFT. TAwas easy enough to play, crappy story but somehow still managed to keep me playing, easy to get new jobs, harder to learn new abilities because you have to keep a certain item equipped untill you master it. New FFT is hard trust me if you are not an experienced player you might need a strategy guide or tutorial (just get a strategy guide 16.99 at gametop) it has an incredible story unlike TA which is just about a bunch of kids whose big secrets is crap like i die my hair and my mom cried about it i mean OMFG i was saying to myself WTH is this $20 crap!!! So if you played TA and you want to play new FFT get the guide cuz its 10x better than TA

I didn't think there there was ever any question that not only did FFT rock but that FFTA was a disney movie in comparison. This was true even before they adapted Tactics to the PSP and rather obvious to anyone who had played it already a decade ago.

Why bother buying a guide? If you need help, refer to the other website linked to this board called gamefaqs.com

There are only a few guides on there right now, but there will be more. Besides, play through the game once without help if possible to get your money's worth! :P

you don't need a guide to win. But there are lots of hidden items and a guide helps.

also helps you learn more about how the game works

yea i don't think a guide is really vital but if you lack experience in tactical games then go right ahead, but like what other posts before me said, you can always go to gamefaqs.com for reference.

the game is amazing by the way

Different jobs I know monk has first strike or something like that but unlike fft advanced the jobs teach you abilitys not weapons.

Buy the strat guide... this was my second RPG in all my life, and I remember that IT WAS HARD!

When I heard there was a PSP version I bought myself a PSP and start playing it again... for some reason I remember each fight of the game EACH ONE... and it was because the game was so hard the first time.

Anyway Ive Just finished the game yesterday again after all the years, and I breaze trough it... but at the same time, I couldntstop thinking how hard some fights are if you dont have the right "tactic".

Anyway... dont buy the stat guide, believe me, this is a game that you will be PROUD to finish on your own...
