I said that before two days ago :) No one believed me !!! :)newown
Well after the Killzone CGI thin everyone has become skeptical about everything related to Sony!! They want a confirmation of everything!
Can someone explain me this?
"Version 1.80 also allows users on a home network to seamlessly view and play rich media content such as images, music and video on their PS3, that is stored on their DLNA3 enabled devices such as PCs and laptops elsewhere in the house, reinforcing PS3's credentials as a home entertainment hub that truly deserves pride of place in the Living Room."

Sounds like local network streaming from other devices.

As far as i can tell it gives you the possibility of streaming stuff of the pc onto your ps3 so you can use it on the ps3.
Dont know what the dlna3 stuff is.

here you go bud the official word
"In a comprehensive update to PS3's already impressive capabilities, Version 1.80 also allows users to enjoy Remote Play on their PSP across the internet, allowing them to access their PS3 anywhere in the world where a broadband internet connection is available2"
(and happy birthday in advance)

Definitely nice to have both :D
I personally don't own another device that upscales on my HDTV so I too will be very interested in seeing how things look.
I'm keeping my expectations tempered though as I don't think the image quality will even approach that of BluRay movies (e.g. The Departed)Â
Just read the article and this was also in it:Â

Location Free Player ftw!

[QUOTE="Miguel16"]why no upscaled ps3 gamesrothman713
Too much to fit into one update?
I dunnoÂ
nah,I would prefer these things in parts if they give in everything in one update would ruin the excitement of getting new updates now we have something to look forward to.

That's true. The upscaling of DVDs and old PS games are nice enough for this update.

thanks :P
But the question was about the pc to ps3 connectivity not the psp-ps3 connectivity :PÂ
sounds great but if you look at playstations site on updates it still shows update 1.70?cardiac_cat
It usually takes them a while to update. I prefer updating my firmware via a USB thumb drive and so I usually have to wait 3-4 days after everyone else has their firmware update to access and DL it off the PlayStation site.Â

Because it is scheduled for 24th may!
if thats the case its a done deal, i have no use for my 360 except FPS games.

This firmware update cures one of the biggest early knocks against the PS3, which was that for such a powerful and pricey machine, the absence of DVD upscaling was pretty much an unforgivable head-scratcher. I currently use my 360's HD-DVD drive to upscale to 1080p via the VGA cable, and frankly, I've not been totally blown away by the quality.Â
And I'd be remiss if I didn't say how stoked I am to be able to play GoW and GoWII upscaled over HDMI. That's a major benefit for players who still have a batch of PS2 games that they play regularly. Hell, I might dust off my six-year-old copy of Final Fantasy X and maybe even play a little old-school SSX Tricky this weekend.
Of the firmware updates for the PS3, this is easily the best.
i hope the upscaled ps2 games work well, major + from me.
instead of playing games in 480p resolution i can hopefully play them in 1280x720p resolution, if not 1920x1080p resolution, alot of ps2 games should look massively better, some might even look as good as their pc counterparts now.
alot of the newer releases should look amazing, i cant wait to see how god of war 1/2, final fantasy 10/12, resident evil 4, metal gear solid look.
if dvd upscaling is included too, bravo, allthough its not as big a deal as upscaled games, as you cant upscale what quality isnt there for movies, since the movie is only encoded at standard def anyway, games however will be rendered at higher resolutions.
think of it as playing a game on your PC at 640x480 res will full graphics on, only to have to game now play at 1280x720 will full graphics on, should make a massive difference in sharpness and quality, obviously textures will look a little bland, but hopefully this is confirmed and not a rumour.

damn i hope the game upscaling to 1080p is legit, ill be going out and buying shedloads of ps2 games.
