My PSone games run fine during gameplay, but when it runs FMVs, it stutters and hacks up every five seconds. I found this really annoying, and it's testing my patience because its ruining my experience playing FF games I just bought brand new. Did anyone else run into this problem?rockstar_88
As luck would have it, I popped in FF8 last night to test out the firmware. I didn't notice any problems with the FMVs. Maybe your CD got scratched somehow.

No, my copy of Warhawk does the same thing. Maybe it has something to do with the live-action FMVs or it's just some games.
The post was not a complaint, but a concern.
How do we know that it's not a problem with the drive trying to read the FMV's on these PS1 games or the flashing was corrupted?
I just tried Colony Wars and the sound skips as well as the cinematic itself. Other games it's just the sound that stutters. The optical and analog audio has the same result. Sony cust. service asked me to reset system settings and it didn't work.
I have 30 day return at Best Buy, not sure if exchanging it will help.
You have to understand that if we don't talk, Sony may not even know the problem; and thats the propose of the thread. My FF8 FMVs have also skipped and stuttered, fix it soon Sony.Sony: If you see something, say something(good or bad).ok first of all i am not havin those problems, so i dont know why some of u do, now if it is a big problem for some of ya that do have THIS problem, im pretty sure sony will fix it with an update, give em time, u guys just are tooooooo selfish sometimes, i mean damn u cant expect to have everythin, and when u do u want it to be absoulty perfect!!!!!??? come on now, give sony time, and i bet u MY PS3, that in due time everythin will eb the same way u want it, so stop complanin, cuz its not gonna solve or help anythin, but like i mentioned above ^^^^ i do not have this problem, im playin capcom vs snk, metal gear , legend of dragoon , legacy of kain, silent hill , and honest to god i havent had any problem, matter fact they look better!?!

It's not rare at all. Go to the PS site forums and read there.
What I found is that if you set the display on the PS3 to max 720p, not 1080, the audio and stuttering will go away.
Now as I posted there, Colony Wars and Tecmo's Deception 3, as only 2 examples, have slight frame skipping in the movies, like a frame here and there even when set to 720p, but the audio stops skipping.
Turning it off completely eliminates all of this.
Some posted Res.4 for PS2 is giving them trouble as well, however I didn't have it happen.
The system is not processing the render of the movies and audio on PS games when it is upscaling further past 480p. Alot of processing here is messing up the upscale rendering and sync.
