wow, it looks like a mix between Uncharted, GeoW, Army of TWo, and Resident Evil 4. idk,
plus whoever was playing it really sucked at it. it looks really like the physics are not too good.
And I hope just the first level was black and white...Matt2556
Yup, that'd be correct. Only the "Prologue" is B&W.
This game went from an awesome looking stealthy space sci-fi game to another generic Gears of War clone with a cover system and "powers" gimmick in the form of the glaive. Hence why I think this is stupid. And it looks stupid too. Whoever developed the game should be slapped in the back of the head for going the easy way out because I was looking so forward to Dark Sector in it's original iteration. It didn't have that gay glaive, it had a magnetics system of sorts which is IMHO alot cooler and interesting.
Here's a link to the E3 2005 trailer for the game:

I agree lol. It was announced way back in April of 2004 though.Graphics wise it looks older, because it is, with Direct X 9.0b shader model 2.0 quality modeling. And of course that'll automatically bar it for you shooter maniacs who must have the extremes. And without blook and guts, it looks boring to you guys because you just love to mindlessly shoot enemies, instead of a game that actually draws you into it's environment, forces you to be smart because your enemies are intelligent. Face it, Dark Sector is a Gears of War clone. Cover system: Check. Over the shoulder firing: Check. Stupid gimmick in the form of the disease and glaive: Check. Blood and guts: Check. Weird unhuman creatures: Check.
Oh and I love how the character happens to have a disease that doesn't allow him to feel pain, and that makes him unvulnerable to going mad because of infection that gives him powers (which to itself is pretty stupid, considering that idea is so played out all the time). How convienient, all just because people love GeoW, Digital Extremes went from a pretty solid design in Dark Sector's original iteration that seemed to be going in a nice direction, even if it did amalgamate from games like Metal Gear Solid, Splinter Cell, and RE4 already, yet through some pretty original and crazy awesome ideas, design, and art. Oh hey our hero has longer flowing hair to keep trendy with the times and I guess draw into hair **** that currently are popular. God this just really pisses me off to see this happen, and people here are all happy about it because it's the same thing they are used to. Blood, guts, and extreme violence. Games can't have intelligence anymore it seams because they don't make dozens of millions of dollars as consumers have gone partially brain dead. Sad direction to see the industry go in. I'm sure they got rid of the cool Taiko drum music too................****** jerk offs.
Their sell out is our loss, hence why I'm not happy about the game at all.
Now I don't like to say I don't like shooters, I love 'em. However games that ride the coaster of violence as the sheer factor of satisfaction really don't settle with me. Put some intelligence in 'em, put some real story in it too, as well as an original setting. TacticalElefant
Completely agree. When i first saw the trailer it made me go crazy dying for next gen and look at what we get now. Gears of War clone LOL what a waste of time.

Waste of time? Gears of War clone? The previous trailer for this game that had you excited was a Metal Gear Solid clone on a space ship. Original! It's far superior in gameplay and visuals in its current state.
The game actually looks pretty good, and unlike todays stuff, despite being a little less quality, that game could be rendered at 1080p native and still run 60 fps. The game still looks pretty damn good not because of ultra complex graphics, but because of the art direction and the lighting which all look great by the way the game was being presented. And yes it was to be more stealth oriented, but it wasn't a MGS clone at all, considering the magnetic capabilities of the characters suit as well acrobatic abilities. And that machine he fights at the end of the 2005 trailer was awesome, especially how he managed to outsmart it, attack from above, then using his magnetic weapons, turned it against it's masters. That was awesome. To you it's all about, getting that glaive out, which unto itself is already lame, throw it an enemy, decapitating him, then you'll masturbate to all the blood and guts you yearn to see so much right? Yeah go masturbate to your blood and entrails so much take pleasure to. TacticalElefant
That machine is still in Dark Sector.
I've seen some footage of what looked like a large biological monstrosity that's probably the replacement of the machine. Digital Extremes really should get sued by Epic for basically cookie cutting GeoW and Capcom should sue both of the more taking their over the shoulder view style.TacticalElefant
First, Gears was not the first of its kind and same for Resident Evil. Second, as I said, the machine that was in the '04 tech demo is still in the game, so there's no "replacement".
Yeah I forgot about .Killswitch, it's developers should sue Epic for stealing the cover system :D
Either way I'm boycotting Dark Sector for selling out. Nothing else to it.
TacticalElefant
Would you like some french cries with your whamburger? What's wrong with taking ideas from the best and mixing them into one game? I think DarkSector looks fine the way it is, and I'm very excited to play it.

Thank God lolThat level we watched was black and white??
I thought it just had low saturation of color and everything was just stone colored.

you just said what needs to be said to a lot of gamers i totaly agree i remember when there were fun games without gore and violence like kh and other different types of games this gen is way to much violence i look at my friend play codemened and i say wtf what happened to games that had no blood and gore i am really sad this gen cuz games that are different are being overlooked and put down its sad really maybe when we get more games this gen ff13 and white night and all the rpgs and platformers it will be different but until then this gen will always be dissapointing to me
