My R2 trigger button on the DS3 controller has been giving me trouble for a long time, it suddenly got very loose and much too sensitive and thats really annoying in some games. Ive opend the controller and saw that the spring was broken and theres no pressure to push back the trigger (what a surprise...) Ive been searching forever for an answer for that problem.

Does anyone know of a way to fix this? I understand it became a common problem. Or maybe just a way to extract the spring so i can replace it?

Since youve opened the controller already, try finding a spring to replace it.. Otherwise i cant really help ya.. Youll probably have to buy a new controller and be more careful with it.

You know like not throwing it in the wall after a boss beat you 5 times in a row jk;)

Its not so easy, The spring is wrapped around a metal bar and that metal bar is the trigger's axis and i cant find a way to take it out. Anyway when im thinking about it... where can i get the same spring anyway?

P.S: I didnt smash the controller, I think it happend from too many hours playing Burnout Paradise. No Kidding!!

Yes...between the R1 and R2 buttons is a separate sort of U-shaped plastic piece that hides its seams very well...it slides in around R1 and the bottom half of the controller has a sort of rail that slides around the U's edges and locks it in place.  If you set the controller right-side-up on a table so the L and R buttons are facing you, you would take the bottom of the controller off, then the plastic piece between R1 and R2, pull it down and twist the bottom part of it a bit out (away from R1 and toward you), it'll slide right out.  That plastic piece is covering the ends of the metal pin/rod that the spring coils around.  Once the ends are exposed you can just take anything small and sharp and push the pin right out, it's loose enough of a fit that it takes almost no pressure to push it out.

With that said, the same thing happened to my controller, and I'm looking for a replacement spring as well.  Let me know if you find anything.Â
