Does Sony give you a treat for doing this, like giving you points or something like that? BTW I'm at 13% of completing 1 Work Unit.

One last question, will keeping my PS3 on overnight hurt it for using it for the fold @ home project?

I was wondering what happens with all the points. I guess it's just for showing off to your buddies.

You get points for leaderboards. It's as pointless as achievements but I guess it serves its purpose.

for the folding thing i dont know i hardly use it but as leaving it on well...let me tell u a little story I am still playing Gran Turismo 4 (kinda) and there is a race, an endurance race, that requires you to race for 24 hours straight. yes it seems impossible. I just put it into b-spec mode (the one where the computer does the driving) and left it on for a little ove 24 hours on my ps3.... long story short my ps3 handled it perfectly and it was not even hot.. and this is an older ps3 model (dec. 24, 2006!) so to answer half your question yes it can handle long hours of constants activity just keep it well ventilated..ok

if your work unit cures cancer than your first in line to get the cure.

lol jk, you dont really get anything, the points are just so if you look online they can measure your contributions. its charity you dont get anything in return.

Unless they are going to pay my electric bill I'm not using it. You should get a tax write off for charitable contributions

Bingo. You get nothing at all for doing this. Just like you get nothing back for putting a buck or two into the can that the bell ringing Santa Claus dudes have out during this holiday season other than the feeling that you've done something selfless.

I have a little over 300 units complete and if you join a team you get a chance of being in the leader board. Also a while back the project broke a world record of computing power with the number of PS3's folding at one time. But the main thing is the project could help you or some loved one in the future with a severe disease.

finally, someone with some sense. the whole "what do i get out of it" mentality is really whats wrong with current generations. go volunteer or something...stop taking without giving too. if you won't do that, at least leave your ps3 on and help to someday cure cancer.
