One slot for the controller, one slot for the keyboard, and one slot for the mouse. That leaves one left.

I use max of about 2 or 3 USB ports at a time (keyboard, flash drive, controller) but I rarely have all those plugged in at the same time. As for the memory slots: I use them rarely to delete all the photos off of my mom's camera and I use it to get songs on my phone. I plan on getting a PSP on monday so the other slot will hopefully be useful.

I've never used more than two at the same time.  Four seems a bit superfluous to me given that the PS3 has Bluetooth connectivity built-in.

I dont use all of them at the same fequently but I have before and was happy I was able to. I've used the compact flash a couple of times. I mainly use the sd card reader and the memory stick reader. The only wish I had an HDTV and could use the hdmi port!

I use only two USB ports. I don't see the need to charge all my controllers at the same time. I use one port to charge controllers and another to charge my headset. In all reality I can just use one all together. As for the memory card reader, rarely. If anything I use discs to copy music but for other media I could as well do the same.

Yeah. I usually have 2 USB connected (mic charger, controller charger), and when my computer was down I connected my wireless keyboard+mouse to it (which uses 1 USB), and sometimes I connect my External HD (for transfering my music library, and photos, and stuff) or I connect my PSP for music transfers, and occasionally I use a Flash drive for school (1 USB).

So, usually 2, sometimes 3, and rarely 4. Even if I needed to use the EHDD, and the USB Flash, I could have just unplugged the chargers, and be fine though *shrug*

I use the memory slots now and then. It's nice for putting photos onto a CompactFlash for a LivePhotograph.

The wiFi is awesome, though...

So, yeah :) Gotta love the 60... (and not the 360 ;) )

I use pretty much on the usb two plug port to charge my controller and third for ipod. for the memory i use sd from my psp to play music or download games. compact i use for external hard drive and i love my digital camera which took photos and record short videos and use duo memory to watch them on my PS3. So I pretty much use the ps3 as a media since i bought the system. Just bought in a sony home theatre system which is plugged in the optical port and LCD t.v. connected on hdmi. Love the blue ray movies and games, its an awesome system.

I use 3 USB Ports, Controller Charger, Keyboard and My PS3 Stand (for the blue lights around the stand). I also use two Memory Slots often for my PSP and Digital Camera.

They are nice to have.

if you want the 40 gig you could always buy a usb hub or memory card hub, they sell them for like nothing and plug into one usb port. Sony's PR guy even mentioned that in an interview.

And I've never used the memory stick slots either. :?

PS3Compass

Yeah, I've never needed more than 1 either, but then I don't own any peripherals yet. This may change when Rock Band arrives at my house.

The SD slot has come in handy with my digital camera though.

i been using 60gb ps3 for some time..i have 1 wire to charge my controller (i have 2 controller...when 1 is out of batt, i charge them and use the other one)...so actually i have been using 1 USB slot all these while...LOL...

however, i was thinking, in the LONG RUN, i might need to use more than 2 ports, simply because my friends will be purchasing ps3 too and we will most probably be playing online games together. Therefore, definitely will be a need for the second USB port for bluetooth for chatting, scolding, laughing, cursing...bla bla bla...

the 3rd and 4th slot i am planning to use is for Driving simulator and Guitar Rock...

sometimes, i use one USB port for plugging in my hard drive, to transfer wallpaper and stuff like tt...

Then again, if u are not lazy like me, and dun mind plugging in and out, 2 USB slot should be sufficient for those who are thinking of getting 40GB and 80GB... =D

LovePs3!~~~

I used all four ports a few times. Two controllers, USB key, and WAS for keyboard...untill it stopped working. My sister uses the slot thingy I never cared for.:P
