sweet, great find dude
*takes a bow*
What games are going to have trophies? and dose anyone know how the in-game XMB will work?
just the news that when your ps3 tells you to update its not going to be 2.4
Fall 08 confirmed?
Edit: 2.36 does nothing useful, stop f***** around and just release 2.4 already. The rumored Xbox Live overhaul will be out by the time 2.4 is out.
 i would rather just wait for 2.40 than doing this crap..americahellyeah
Sony is seriously not listening to its customers...
Updating the firmware on the PS3 is a PAIN IN THE ***!!!!!!!
Why not just release one update instead of milking it over and over? I am sick of this crap.

seriously, i don't see y they can't just put whatever they're gonna put in 2.36 into 2.4 so we just have to do one update

2 minutes of your time is that much of a pain to you? Wow. Simply Wow.
So we were tricked by the rumors saying 2.40 was coming out with in game XMB this month, and now they say "Yeah, were giving you something better!! Stability for PS1 games!!!" Yay! Im so glad they gave us all what we want! God knows we wanted improved PS1 stability, screw in game XMB...hillelslovak
You weren't tricked. You simply listened to rumors. And no where in that post do I see them say they're giving us something better.
2 minutes of your time is that much of a pain to you? Wow. Simply Wow. The_Rick_14
2 minutes? That is total BULL.
Just because your a complete Sony fanboy, doesn't give you the right to lie.
Everytime Sony updates anything on the firmware. You have to download an entire new version of the firmware so it can be flashed. Take a few computer courses and study the "EEPROM".
The firmware size on the PS3 is around 130MB, which is huge.
It always takes me 15 - 20 minutes to complete one of these silly updates.
I have a 7MB internet connection, which is much higher than average. So take that into consideration and consider that there are some people who have to wait even longer than me to update their PS3.
Sony's updates = SUCK
It would be embarrasing for Sony (and the PS fans) if: (1) it's E3 and they still haven't completed 2.40; (2) there's no new firm news on home at E3; and (3) if the Chexbox Live update/2.0 whatever new generation online deal goes live and Sony still doesn't have XMB or Home or anything...just sayin...

I'm quite more familiar with "EEPROM" than you know, so please don't try to throw that in my face. I'm working with flash memory being used in a new application you've likely never heard of.
I'm also a fan of gaming, not a fanboy. I live in a room that currently has a PS3, 360, Wii and N64 and have thoroughly enjoyed games and features of each of those platforms.
Do you sit there and stare at the screen while it downloads? Because I update while I'm doing something else, so the total time it takes me to actually perform the download is around 2 minutes. Multitasking (or since you're a computer guy, maybe you perfer "threading") always makes things better.
In your defense, I should have explained where I pulled the 2 minutes comment from.

What are you talking about? The only time you will be required to make a full update is if you have brand new PS3, but even in that case it will be updated almost completely nowadays.
The regular and very small weekly/monthly firmware updates take barely few minutes to install.
This has nothing to do with fanboyism, it's a simple truth.

Rick, it seems you always get flammed:P
Anyway 'coming soon" is good enough for me.
Yea, I do take a good number of hits, but I can take it. lol
Paradise did have a point that my comment was technically false the way I stated it. I just don't know why everyone has to go call me a fanboy on top of it though.
Rick, it seems you always get flammed:PAnyway 'coming soon" is good enough for me.

Dude he deserves to get flamed. He doesn't have a clue when it comes to technology.

Did you at least read my response to your post first or did you skip to the bottom? Because that seems like a pretty bold statement going by what I have said in my posts here in this topic.
