"no real benefit?" how do you backup and restore copy protected saves? The only way to do it is with a full system backup. I've had a PS3 stolen and YLOD and I backup my system everyother week. The downside to this still is copy protected files will not restore on another PS3 (which I learned the hard way when i got a new PS3)I can already back up my save files just fine, and on devices that don't require me to be connected to the internet. Yay for updates with no real benefit!

Maybe no benefit for you but i would rather have my files on their server than a HDD i could drop, not to mention you can access them from any PS3 and i am sure its much quicker than a regular back up. I was just talking to my wife about this like 2 weeks ago they should have this, great idea from someone who lost everything in a ps3 FailureI can already back up my save files just fine, and on devices that don't require me to be connected to the internet. Add a few more features then I will purchase PS+ but for those who have already got it this is great news. Well I would get Plus now but there are far too many games I have to purchase this year so I really couldn't care less about this.
I can't wait, there are two PS3s in my house so now I can play on one, save it to the server and then continue playing on the other one without messing around. xDMushroomWigExactly! Beautifully put! This is an outstanding feature. If Sony announced cross-game chat people would cut school, work and parade in the streets. To me, this is a way more practical and useful feature.
I should think so, the biggest save I've seen is 2mb. So unless you're playing a hundred odd games at once then I seriously doubt you'll reach the limit. I think the service will grow over time, when more people sign up for PS+ Sony will probably expend the service to include things other than just save data.Is 150mb adequate?

I thought the same too then i looked at my saves, and my biggest save is like 4mb from demon souls, i am one who routinely deletes old saves of games i no longer have so for me its perfect for others i cannot comment. The only draw back to this is i have multiple game saves on different user ID and only one of my User ID's is a PS+ member so thankfully its the one i use mostIs 150mb adequate?

Yeah the only games I've seen with more than this, are Fallout 3 and New Vegas. My save files when I had most of the sidequests completed were like 13-15MB lol.
For those people to have 70 games and have 300MB ot data in total would mean their average game save file woulc be 4.2MB, the only games I know that go near that size are Fallout and Farcry 2, maybe over that size..but to have 70 games like that is impossible.I read that some people have about 50 to 70 games = about 300 MB of saves… Too bad for them but they already complained.

well for me I am only backing up my copy-protected files first and then my 100% saves. All of my other stuff is backedup every other week but these files are my main concernIs 150mb adequate?
CHR3
Out of the games with copy-protected saves this is what I got for size limts:
3D Dot Game Heroes 103kb
Assassin's Creed 2 2313kb
Back to the Future 121kb
Back to the Future 1297kb
Batman: Arkham Asylum 363kb
Bayonetta 210kb
Castlevania: Lord of Shadow 435kb
Dante's Inferno 1219kb
Dead Space Ignition 100kb
Demon's Souls 3529kb
Dragon's Lair 143kb
Fat Princess 452kb
Heavy Rain 6732kb
High Velodity Bowling 90kb
Killzone 2 1072kb
Mass Effect 2 75kb
Medal of Honor Frontline 135kb
Megaman 10 386kb
Red Faction: Guerrilla 88kb
Sly 3 98kb
Star Ocean 1254kb
Street Fighter 4 3763kb
Tetris 193kb
Eye of Judgement 1125kb
Which only comes up to 25MB
This is awesome, not only does it become much easier to transfer data if my system broke, there will be no more irritating locks on games. Though I do wonder if people would exploit this for trophies and how Sony would stop that.

Ahh..that would come in handy, thanks for pointing that out. I was trying to think what I could possibly use this feature for, and thats it. Don't really care about making backups of my saves.
This is BS. This feature should be given to all members. I have a few of those damned copy-prohibited save data files that I would really like to back up, but because I have no intention of subscribing to plus, I'm **** out of luck? I really don't wish to sound as if I'm entitled to this or anything, but given the risk of potential hardware failure, I would assume that offering this feature, which I think is practically a necessity, to the entire community instead would have been the more "appropriate" action. If storage costs are too high or something, then give every one less space (or just give the regular users less space and keep the 150MB storage capacity for the plus users). Hell, I know most would be satisfied if they just had enough space to backup their pesky copy-prohibited files. This is definitely not a feature I expected to be exclusive to premium members.
stop being a cheapskate. Sony can't give you every single item for free if they did they wouldn't be in business. If you want the feature pay for it.This is BS. I'm nearly full, and I haven't even put all my saves on there. Sony needs to do something about this.

Pay to back up your locked saves... Brilliant! And you wonder why people want to hack their PS3istuffedsunnyThere's a reason... Devs or publishers are the ones who make their saves locked because they don't want people duping or cheating. If Sony controls the flow of the locked saves, they can make sure people aren't doing that so there's no problems backing them up.
Pay to back up your locked saves... Brilliant! And you wonder why people want to hack their PS3istuffedsunnyI don't see it like that since I'd still be paying for PS+ regardless if this feature existed or not. It's just another feature which makes PS+ worth the money in my opinion.
Great idea but the 24hr time limit sucksVelocityWait, what time limit? I still didn't get back home from work, so I didn't update yet but what is this time limit you're talking about?

Regular files can be uploaded or downloaded at anytime without a limit
150mb? Is that the total limit or the limit per day? 150mb will barely cover my Dragon Age Origins saves alone.

Well, you only have to backup the last save from each of your playthroughs. So, unless you have 20 playthroughs or something the space they give you should be more than enough.
