This is BS. This feature should be given to all members. I have a few of those damned copy-prohibited save data files that I would really like to back up, but because I have no intention of subscribing to plus, I'm **** out of luck? I really don't wish to sound as if I'm entitled to this or anything, but given the risk of potential hardware failure, I would assume that offering this feature, which I think is practically a necessity, to the entire community instead would have been the more "appropriate" action. If storage costs are too high or something, then give every one less space (or just give the regular users less space and keep the 150MB storage capacity for the plus users). Hell, I know most would be satisfied if they just had enough space to backup their pesky copy-prohibited files. This is definitely not a feature I expected to be exclusive to premium members.

stop being a cheapskate. Sony can't give you every single item for free if they did they wouldn't be in business. If you want the feature pay for it.

I'm not asking for all features to be free--just this particular feature. So, please, don't make baseless assumptions or feed me lines about "business"--it's insulting. And of course I'd have to pay for the feature if I want it (or more precisely, "need it," given that I have a 60gig PS3)--as if that wasn't obvious. I simply assumed that Sony could spare... hell... "at least" 10MB or so of space for every regular user so that they could back up some their copy-protected files (which are idiotic to begin with, as it's possible to limit a game save to 1 user's PSN ID but still allow the user to back up their save files--like in GT5, for instance) in case of YLOD or something of that nature. Believe me, I understand that, often times, "peace of mind" comes at a price, but in this particular case, you'll just have to forgive my "naivety" for thinking that Sony could have extended such an essential protection feature, to which there is seemingly no alternative, to all of the PSN users.

But, hey, it is a business--there's no doubt about that. In order for Sony to sell more PSN+ subscriptions, it must create as much incentive as possible. And this new feature definitely makes purchasing PSN+ a more lucrative option--especially to those who care about protection. And I do realize that "complaining" about this feature being exclusive to premium members sounds a bit "whiny," as its addition to PSN+ doesn't take anything away from the regular users, who never had the "Cloud" feature to begin with. However, that in no shape or form means that I approve or should approve of the way Sony is drawing my attention to PSN+. And last time I checked, I'm at least entitled to my opinion.

(With all of that said, I wouldn't rule out the possibility that this feature could still be given to all PSN users at a later date).

If Sony would never have even had this in the first place, you wouldn't be complaining. This is a huge reason why people might want PS+, so it only makes sense to make it PS+ exclusive.

This is just adding to the never ending debate over PS+

People are going to complain because cloud saving is a paid feature and say PS+ isn't worth getting for that one feature.

If cloud saving came free to all PSN users, people would just laugh and say one less reason to buy PS+

The bottom line is, no company can please everyone regardless of what they do. I also see many people saying how it's 'convenient' this feature rolled out after they lost all their saves through YLOD. It's call the life span of 1st gen technology, not Sony's fault the 60gigs are dying.

Of course we'll have this same debate when the next PS+ exclusive feature comes about. Some people will say it's not worth the subscription, and call it irrelevent, while others say PS+ sucks regardless.

In the end, I find this to be a convenient feature, and it lives up to Sony's promise of adding exclusive features and incentives to PS+. Automatic Downloads and Cloud Saving are two great features that I enjoy. I can't say that I'm in dire need to back up my saves since I only have about 5 games, but it's a benefit of my subscription, and I appreciate it.

As many have stated, the value of PS+ comes down to the individual user, read the official Sony PS+ FAQ and see if it's for you.

Sorry for the rant, I know it won't change anything in the long run, I just wanted to get that off my chest.

I'm nearly full, and I haven't even put all my saves on there. Sony needs to do something about this. [QUOTE="CHR3"]

Is 150mb adequate?

redskins2156

Solution: Buy a cheap $5-10 flash drive that holds 4 or even 8GB of data and use that for game saves. You won't have to clear out the data on the flash drive, so you can use one you already filled with other stuff or use an mp3 player.

There are two reasons to care about this update: 1) it's less of a hassle to transfer saves between PS3s and 2) Copy-protected saves can be backed up individually, without having to back-up your whole system. It's a nice feature, but I can't see too many people being pushed to get Plus after this update.

What I'd really like is to be able to copy multiple things at once onto another device/profile on the PS3. It makes no sense why they haven't done this yet, given how simple of a feature it probably is to implement. It's not very fun copying all my data one by one to my flash drive.

Pretty much my thoughts as well. People were complaining that plus had no special features to make it worth a sub and now that it does people don't want to pay for the feature

I'm downloading it now. It's a slow long update. It's not mandatory so you have to go to system update. It said the change was for adding the number of seconds for your duelshock to go to sleep when not in use. It didn't say anything about saves but the update is large so it probably is cloud storage saves too.
