[QUOTE="tabben"]The Blue-Ray on the PS3 is sluggish, thus the game devs rightfully put in a game install (as a option or mandatory) to speed up the loading times.Gue1
It took 5 pages for someone to actually repond to a well kown fact. What with the gamespot's users? Are they gamers or what? Every time I enter to a thread where someone is asking something most of the responses are wrong.

Even Uncharted 2 and Killzone 2 have an install, it is just that it's so small (like 200MB) that you don't even realize it.
-But how do they speed up loadings so much with such small install you ask? Using the HDD for constant streaming.
Two games that I know that the installs are completely optional are Valkyria Chronicles and Ninja Gaiden Sigma. And if you don't install them, each loading could take easily like 40 second to 1 minute. :|

fact: blu-ray drive speed on the PS3 is x2, DVD drive speed on the X360 is x12. If the PS3 blu-ray drive ran at x4, most of the games wouldn't need installs but considering that every PS3 comes with an HDD then, it is not a problem at all. You can always delete old data files and just keep the 3MB save files.
lol i noticed this too but at least jasonguy was saying that the system was slow which he ment that the drive is slow not the system. Fanboys get defensive though but it is slow and the 360 just added installs because the ps3 had them. The games run just fine off disc and often load faster than ps3 games off disc. Its unfortunate but i doubt people notice a few seconds here and there and its worth it for blu-ray.
