so I just got my copy of RDR in the mail, but the inner part of the disc was cracked, thus making my game unplayable.

I really don't feel like going through the hassle of shipping the game back to the seller, waiting for a refund to my account, then rebuying and waiting again

so has anyone ever bought the same game used from gamestop, switched busted disc for working disc, and then went back to return saying the game was damaged or unreadable?

No. That is about as unethical as you could be. Don't be a cheat, go through the proper process.

this is ridiculous. noone forces anyone to use GS's services. they offer, you accept. to go into the store with the plans of stealing a game, that is pathetic.

people choose to use this service. it's upfront and known in advance what is taking place. the devs are aware this is happening, you needn't take a "robin hood" approach on their behalf. straight up stealing cannot be justified, no matter how hard you try. do not kid yourself, if you do what you say, you are a theif, plain and simple.

Their suppose to inspect the disc before they give it to you. If its cracked, they would notice before giving it to you. If there is no crack when they give it to you, but one when you give it back, it looks like you broke it. Basically whoever you bought it from, cheated you by giving you a broken disc, they may not have done it on purpose, but they are responsible. You should hold them to it instead of trying to pass the buck on to someone else. You would be real pissed off if you tried to take that disc back and they didn't take it.

Also you cant try and justify stuff like that by talking about GS keeping money from developers. Because one, the money goes to the publishers, the developers get their set amount regardless, Two, the publishers are the ones sending people to GS, so they have lost all rights to complain about GS.

Gamestop opens 90% of games.....who wants a pre-opened game

Gamestop employees play games and sell them as new

Gamestop plays catch with ps3 boxes and drops them on purpose for fun

Gamestop pushes its empoyees to force pre sales onto children in a day and age when game just dont sell out anymore

Gamestop rips children off with buy back, if parents knew the money kids are recieving at the price originally paid for, it should be illegal to do to children

Gamestop on PS3 release tried extremely hard to steer people away from ps3 purchases. they lied to people, they spread rumors, and did everything to prevent ps3 sales.

Try Best Buy, Target, Wall Mart, FYE, Costco, BJ's, Toys R us, and other stores before giving Gamespot your parents money

so I just got my copy of RDR in the mail, but the inner part of the disc was cracked, thus making my game unplayable.

I really don't feel like going through the hassle of shipping the game back to the seller, waiting for a refund to my account, then rebuying and waiting again

so has anyone ever bought the same game used from gamestop, switched busted disc for working disc, and then went back to return saying the game was damaged or unreadable?

It's no secret that Gamestop sells opened games as New, and while they deny it, it's known that employees do tend to play these opened games("new" or used) before they're sold.

That was kinda the final draw with me and that store.....I go to buy rockband 2 for th3 ps3, after arguing for 10 min cause back then if you bought ps3 stuff you had to explain why you wernt getting it for x box.....So the guy comes back and obviously a little irritated about our discussion of the 2 systems..... He comes from the back and throws the box down behind the counter.....

Some people are really beyond help. Take a second to think, if you go and do some injustice to someone else because of some injustice that has been done to you you are saying that you deserved it in the first place.

Thank god i thought id be alone in this debate. So if i borrow a game from u and return it busted and say "hey man it didn't work, someone must have messed with it b4 you let me borrow it" that would be just fine?!! + you have the choice of selling @ gamestop. they don't make you do it, but you would turn around and do this. This is a joke. Nothing but cheap a$$e$!

Agreed i have never witnessed any of this. We convert 2 games to used when it comes out (if we have enough) and we play those, then sell them used! And i doubt it, My GS is run by mostly sony fans! sorry you feel that way but you cant judge the whole company (almost 5000 stores) bc you have had a bad experience. But you know what i find the funniest? I come here and ppl complain about GS playing "new games" (which i explained above" BUT in the store my clientele want me to tell them how good the 3 games are that came out yesterday. Probably the same people that come on here and complain come in the store and do that. So to perform my job am i expected to buy every game?! just so i can answer these questions? I think not.

LOL that wouldnt work, when you buy a used game from them, they take the disc out of their drawer, inspect it to make sure its sellable, then they put it in the used game case and give it to you.

I LOVE BASHING GAMESTOP

Once back in the day I went to buy Morrowind. So I got it and at the counter they lady kept pushing me to buy this warranty for $2, which thankfully I did. Then when I got home it turned out the disc didnt work, so I returned it. The lady said that if I hadnt bought that warranty, she wouldnt have refunded the purchase.

She then put a "NEW" sticker on it and put it right back on the shelf. In the exact same spot.

Its been 5 years and ive only returned once, to rebuy Valkyria Chronicles because I lost my original copy and they were the only ones with copies in stock.

What a joke seriously, how can anyone defend those druids?

Its not just the lady, all my local stores are the same story.

When I tried to return it, she directed me to another store for an exchange since that broken disc was the only copy they had. When i got there the employees were acting like it was my fault for buying a broken disc that they sold to me!

And yet another store tried to sell my cousin a broken PSP.

Cheapskakes, all of them :P

This is the type of attitude that leads to criminal activity. Seriously?! You gotta do what you gotta do to get ahead? You may start off small, but when you get away with small things you start going bigger.

This is why the world is the way it is, because of this self centered attitude

Most Gamestop stores do open the new games and put a sticker on them. Which is the dumbest thing. It basically makes me not want to visit their stores at all. I really don't even want USED games that have stickers all over them, I'd rather buy on ebay. So unless there is some kind of MEGA sale going on I pretty much never think of shopping at Gamestop.

However I've never had a problem buying from them online. I've bought dozens of games from them online. They have some mean sales sometimes (and you can use coupon codes online to even make it better).

Anyway even if Gamestop were the worst company in the world, it's no excuse to try and steal from them. What you are proposing basically makes you a thief. it is smal time fraud, but fraud nonetheless. You need to take your issue up with the person that sold you the broken game.

STICK IT TO THA MAN!!!!! haha but seriously look into your heart. That's where you'll find the answer you seek.

I'm sure they'll inspect the game upon your returning it and wonder about the mysterious crack

DoogieSushie

The heart? I'm pretty sure his heart is telling him to screw people over. Listen to your brain is more like it. He at least asked the question so maybe theres hope yet.

Wow. Cant believe how dumb most of you are coming across. If you don't like getting ripped off by Gamestop, then dont trade games in there, dont buy them. go get them at a walmart or something, (which is even starting to take trades where i live) but walmart doenst have any selection. point is...in the business world, you need to make money of the sucker. the one to lazy to cook their own meals, coffee, or even video games. We all know GS has some questionable practices(opening new games even bugs me), but any store wants to send a customer away happy, or they wouldnt be in business, but if your a ignorant prick to them, how do u think ur going to get treated. Also, there are better ways of getting rid of games, like ebay. but if you too impatient or lazy to do this, dont complain because GS(or any business) is the one taking the risk or running a business. they are the one hoping the game is going to sell, and not sit on the shelf for 5 years until they put it in a bargin bin like the 100s of PS2 games you can find.
