well since this is not my computer and my friend has firfox i dont know how to copy and paste my proof, but im sure most of you have read what gamespot has to say about the mgs4 demo demonstration. i read it and as i kept reading, to me it seems as though gamespot wasnt too excited about this game. i dont know maybe its just me or maybe its there choice of words but they didnt use those kind of words that make u excited for a game. instead they used words like the graphics are great and the aimation is pretty cool. i dont know gamespot to me is acting a bit fishy right now

i just hope its me :(

Maybe you should read it again, they had nothing but good things to say about it.

I have yet to read what GS said about the demo, but do remember that Gamespot's biggest MGS fan, Greg Kasavin, has left. So any anticipation for the game might have taken a hit.

Didn't read it, but the problem Metal Gear Solid 4 has is that Greg Kasavin is gone, as he was the only editor who was really into the Metal Gear.

Again, you're reading things into the article that just aren't there. They even say at the end:

"There's no doubt that Metal Gear Solid 4 will be one of the most scrutinized PlayStation 3 games when it ships early next year. Given what we've seen and the team working on it, we're going to say that it has a very good chance of being able to stand up to that scrutiny."

Are they supposed to do cartwheels & handstands or something? They had nothing but positive things to say about the game.

I think they are impressed about it but maybe because you read IGN impression of the game first, because the first thing they wrote is:

YOU ARE GOING TO BUY METAL GEAR SOLID 4.

But seriously if you are worried that they might give it a bad score don't worry about it because it will get a great score.

Some of you need to grow up. Who cares if someone says anything negative about a GAME? Really, I mean come on. How old are you?

If by Greg Kasavin you mean Carrie Gouskos then yes you're right the biggest MGS fan has left, I suppose Greg was also a big fan. I don't think there are actually that many editors that are left that even like stealth action games let alone Metal Gear;

I surely hope you aren't implying that CNet is owned by Microsoft. because they are not. CNet is governed by a board of directors that come from or are still part of other companies. Microsoft is NOT one of those companies.

Impressed or not...who cares?

Buy a game because it impresses YOU, not someone else.

when will the "Gamespot hates teh PS3" threads stop? :?

nothing about that article was negative. just because they weren't crying in joy doesn't mean that they dont like the game. other than preview/reviews... when was the last time a reputable gaming site/mag jumped for joy on a game?

They just don't say stupid things of "You have to buy this game!" "OMG" like some 12 years old; they actually decrided what they saw.

I listened to The Hotspot this morning and they didn't seem overly excited about it. They did say that none of them were MGS fans.

I've never liked a MGS game. I watched the gameplay video and thought it looked alright. The thing I don't like about MGS games is they are so odd. I'm so used to realistic stealth games. This thing has boxes and barrels and nudie magazines and puking and etc...

I can see renting MGS4, but I doubt I'll buy it.

Its because gamespot previews are also kept at a neutral position not giving away hype or anything. Even really bad games they state the core facts. If you read stuff from IGN, 1UP or like Kotaku those people there are very excited to see games they like, the editors have more of a personality. Which is why they can have interesting podcast discussions.

When greg and carrie were back here, times were much better in gamespot.

MGS was never meant to be realistic so its a matter of preference. MGS was meant to have a deep storyline and random s%@! that no one ever saw in a game before....like looking at nude magazines to stop puking and grabbing guys by the nuts to kill em

MGS was not suppose to be a totally realistic stealth game and that's what make it so fun (splinter cell gets very boring for being realistic) also, when people say MGS looks realistic, it means the graphics and not the story line or a proper portrayal of a spy.

My thing is I played Splinter Cell first. I loved the first SC. I bet I played through it 4 times on hard. It was like the next coming of Christ in gameplay to me. I then heard that MGS was also a stealth game. So, I tried one of the versions on PS2. I only lasted about 2 hours. If I remember, you couldn't control the camera and that drove me nuts. It oddity was also just too different for my taste.

I even bought a used copy of a PS1 MGS game to see if I'd like it better if I started from the beginning. Didn't help.

I see you can control the camera in MGS4. That might help a lot in getting me to like it. I will give MGS4 a chance. I'm not writing it off before trying it.

they gave MGS3:S a 9.0 though. and Halo 2 got a 9.4 on GS.

and to be fair... a vast majority of Xbox players are still playing that 3 year old game.

Internet Explorer can be run by clicking Start > Run > iexplore > OK, but even still in Firefox copy is CTRL+C and paste is CTRL+V - it's the same across all computers.

As for your post, gamespot is like that on all games, their previews/reviews are always done from a point of pure pessimism, as if it's wrong to show actual enthusiasm in the jobs they do.
